RoadRash 0 #1 June 29, 2008 Was not that great....... ::WARNING:: SPOILERS AHEAD: SPOILER ALERT: Ok, once I got past Loom of Fate and the idea that bullets can travel "around" various things......My suspension of disbelief just could not handle the fact that the humor just dropped out of the movie at one point and the fact that the ending was sooo cheesy that I got up to leave only wondering why the idiot parents in front of us had 10 and 12 year old kids watching a horribly violent, foul language ridden, film that had moments of two people humping. Nice...that aside, I spent almost 20 minutes sitting through worthless previews (I am not exaggerating, we timed it), then started the movie much like Fight Club or other films that begin with a sterotypically screw up typical white male who needs to get in touch with his masculinity via the use of a powerfully large firearm and shoot various peoples brains out. I noticed that a family of four sat down and that throughout the hole damned movie the youngest son kept shielding his eyes and sinking into his seat and even turning away with a sick face when a man was impaled with a rod......Some fucking parenting...... Anyway, I was terribly jazzed about this movie coming out and really walked away disappointed and wondering "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO THE REST OF THE MOVIE?" It was like it was thrown together and so much of it was left on the cutting room floor that not much was left. Oh well......what should I expect... Ok, rant over...now discuss... ~R+R...I'm a little tea pot...ooops...I boiled over......~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Fly the friendly skies...^_^...})ii({...^_~... quade 4 #6 June 29, 2008 I had high hopes for this because of the cast. Disappointing. What I'm trying to figure out is how many movie scripts the mashed together in a blender to make this? Four? Five? Let's count; Office Space, Star Wars, Matrix, Batman, Pink Flamingos . . . well that's at least five. Yes, Pink Flamingos, because it eats dog shit. I don't want to spoil it, but I almost feel I should as a service to anyone thinking of actually going, just so they won't.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
MichaelMoore 0 #7 June 29, 2008 I really liked this movie. First of all, it was nice to see a movie like this with an R ratting. They could have totally dumbed it down to PG13 with all the CGI effects and still had a good movie, but they didn't compromise on violence. I’ve actually been waiting for a slow-mo of a bullet going through a dudes head, I’ve never seen it done the way I had envisioned until I saw this movie! They did it exactly how I always imagined it. The plot could have gone more in-depth as to the whole purpose of the whole assassin cult, but I guess I’ll have to read the book if I want to know about that! LouDiamond 1 #9 June 29, 2008 Definitely disappointing flick. Wait until its a rental DVD if you want to see it. Typical hollywood release that had lots of potentially but falls woefully short."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

The plot could have gone more in-depth as to the whole purpose of the whole assassin cult, but I guess I’ll have to read the book if I want to know about that! Wow. I'm not really sure how to respond to this. I guess my first point would be that no movie that is longer than a single shot, should hang its success on . . . a single shot. While special effects are "fun", they are not, in and of themselves, a story. I suppose if a person had a certain twisted sense of reality and got some pornographic pleasure out of seeing a bullet pop through the front of a person's forehead in slo-mo, then there would be certain scenes in this movie that would have them needing clean underpants afterward. I, however, am not one of those people. I have a slightly different viewpoint on what goes into a "good" movie and the start of it is called story. Sadly, this movie steals far too many story "elements" from some classic story archetypes, but, much like a chimp trying to imitate a ballet dancer, the execution leaves much to be desired and is in fact pathetically laughable in its clumsiness. Or in this case perhaps the screenplay was, in fact, written by 1,000 chimps with laptops and Final Draft. In any case, it's probably not wise to try to create movies like this without actually studying Joseph Campbell.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

I would have preferred them sticking closer to the idea of the original story. For those that don't know, it's a world where all the superheroes are dead or defeated by supervillians in a private war. It nods it's head to nearly every comic book icon in the process. (and this movie does the same by trying not to ignore that movies like Matrix exist) As Dexter has shown, an amoral, evil supervillian can make for a good protagonist. That being said, I still liked this movie. It wasn't a masterpiece and it certainly doesn't hold up well against the other comic book movies this summer. There are plot flaws but I for some reason didn't get distracted by the loom or other shortcomings. I'm not sure it will hold up to repeated viewings for me however....which is what I ultimately judge most action movies by. It was interesting watching this movie being filmed last summer side by side with The Dark Knight here in town. I remember one week I had Batman on one side of my office building and Wanted on the other. My old office building makes itself into a dozen or so shots in this one._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... DangerRoo 0 #15 July 17, 2008 ya I was disappointed also, I thought with the cast it should be decent.
