Kerrida 0 #26 July 18, 2008 Commodore64 baby! Are you keeping up with the Commodore? Cause the Commodore's keeping up with you! There.. now that I've gotten myself shot(or glomped) by those who know what I just did... Computer, hands down. Any computer, as long as it has a net connection. Why? MUDs, that's why. The precursor to our modern MMO. Everquest was even sued because it was thought to use the server architecture of a certain MUD codebase. And technically all MMOs are MUDs, just with a nice graphical interface instead of the text medium. Plus these days you can get almost any console game to run on the computer if you get the right tools. aardvarkeater 0 #28 July 18, 2008 Quote Quote Quote Quote Quote I pretty much just play WoW, and it works great on the mac. That's about the only game that works on the mac. Mac + Boot Camp = any game works. *ahem* NWN2 doesn't work with ANY emulator, from what I'm told. If NWN2 is NeverWinter Nights 2, just buy the mac version. It's been out since February. However, it does run just fine in BootCamp. BootCamp isn't really an emulator. It actually allows the Mac to boot up in Windows. Load up Crysis in BootCamp and tell me it works.Muff Brother #4026 Loco Zapatos Rodriguez SCR #14793
Kerrida 0 #29 July 18, 2008 QuoteLoad up Crysis in BootCamp and tell me it works. Considering it acts as bootloader for the EFI chip (which Macs use instead of the Bios that PCs generally do) so that you can then load a native Windows install, it shoudl run without too many issues. Assuming the proper drivers for the Mac hardware are installed.

Less memory, but still better. Nvidia 8600M GT 256mb ram in my Mac. Nvidia 8500 (forget the extioning) 512mb card in my desktop. Either machine will run it. skittles_of_SDC 0 #32 July 18, 2008 You do realize that you can get a number of different graphics cards for Macs right? I love people like you who rip on Macs for no reason and with completely invalid complaints. Oh yeah and the graphics cards must suck, you know seeing as how a majority of the graphic design industry uses apple computers, not to mention a good number of photographers, special effects houses, and even hollywood movies. No they gotta suck.

No they gotta suck. Yup. I'm far from a Mac-fangirl. I own one because work dropped it in my lap. I will admit, I've fallen for the little laptop. It has it's quirks, but I like it. All in all.. the Intel Macs are just a PC with a different type of firmware on the Mobo. The Mac OS is just a customized BSD(version of the almighty Unix), and a unique GUI. The drawback to the Mac is the cost. Which honestly, you are paying for the OS.. with a tried and true Unix core, not the hardware. Oh wait, that's right.. they sell the OS for less than $200, and to offset they markup the cost of the entire package. Not a bad idea really. Lowering the price of the OS means more people are likely to upgrade when the next version comes along.

auburnguy 0 #37 July 18, 2008 PC games have better graphics but consoles have more titles and you can more easily play them with your friends. It's just a matter of preference but consoles and PC's are becoming more closely connected with every new generation. Eventually the PC and the console will become either the same machine or will run in parallel."If you don't like your job, you don't strike! You just go in every day, and do it really half assed. Tuna-Salad 0 #38 July 18, 2008 Do they have a flight sim yet were you can be a jump pilot?? Could have it rated M, and have girls flash for more altitude - FSX has a twin otter addon with the super shark you can sit in the jumper position or in the door etc.Millions of my potential children died on your daughters' face last night. MikeJD 0 #39 July 18, 2008 QuotePC games have better graphics ...but only with the necessary processing power and graphics acceleration, which is a constantly moving target. That's why I decided to stop upgrading my PC - which does everything else I need it to just fine - and go down the console route for games. Console developers are producing some incredible graphics, and they're doing it within the fixed limitations of their target machines - unlike PC/ Mac developers, where the attitude seems to be that if you want a decent frame rate then your graphics card is a couple of months out of date. Been using the name since for most online stuff.
Fast 0 #42 July 18, 2008 I recently bought a PS3 for the blueray player and cause I wanted something that was more portable. I keep it in an old laptop bag and can tote it with me to the dropzone. I despise microsoft for all that they are and that alone prevented me from getting an xbox360. Not to mention that you have to pay for the online service and it doesn't play bluerays. I have a PC too though, i mostly use it for editing these days. I also play wow every now and then in the winter. Though I didn't last winter cause I was spending a lot of time with my GF. WoW is a very consuming thing for me, really.. any MMO is. I have a problem with that kinda stuff. At least I am pretty damn good at the games though. ~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
