Scoop 0 #1 July 18, 2008 Well, maybe I'm too hyperactive but I get so bored when I'm not at work (yes you read that right) that I have volunteered to become a Community First Responder for our ambulance service so that I will be available for call outs locally. I've always liked first aid and love getting stuck in, something I get to do quite a lot at work, however I thought I'd take it one step further. I passed the interview earlier this week and start training soon. The level of first aid taught to police is piss poor so I thought this would be really complimentary, particularly as we are often first on scene to road traffic collisions, calls to people unconscious and assaults etc and work alongside the ambulance service and fire and rescue service. [rant] Everyone should learn first aid at school in my opinion and also be taught not to be such arseholes and help someone if they are in need. I can't stand it when people walk or drive on by when they see people need help. [/rant] I'm looking forward to going out third manning with an ambulance crew for my initial training. Will be interesting. Not bad knowledge to have around a DZ too. I know a large proportion of skydivers are emergency services
