America: Bigger is better, except with Beer

I was working on my computer, just polished off my second Lagunitas IPA (22oz), was thinking about stashing some money in a small German speaking country, and realized Ich habe eine Mass Bier getrunken....

It's a liter.

The last time I was in Germany, I got puny little 0,2 liter cokes that didn't sate my thirst. In America we have 64oz Super Biggie Gulps (1,9 liters). In German beer gardens I got proper measures of beer. Why is it we get puny little 12 or 16 oz (not even a proper pint!) beers and not something that's been super-sized?

1. Everyone knows that Americans can't hold their beer...ego, smaller beers.

2. Americans wouldn't be able to claim, "I drank 40 beers last night!"

3. Tossing those mugs into the back of the pick-up makes too much mess.

4. You can't get 'em in 6-packs.

5. American beer...bah, how much piss water do you want at one time anyway?

My reality and yours are quite different.

I like to get those craft brew variety 12 packs: 2 of each flavor of beer. I'm glad they're only 12 oz., so I can have a Porter, a hefeweizen, an amber lager, an India Pale Ale, etc.

Personally, I think 12oz is just about the right size for a beer.
Why would I want a 1L beer?
Just so I could truthfully say:
"Thash right Offfishur...I juss had two..." [hic] "...drinksh."?

You know there are some places that sell 24 oz bottles mmm Cadillac mountain Stout Bar Harbor Brewing company. Also my local brewery sells their 64 oz Growlers
