karlm 0 #2 July 15, 2008 I know a guy who has his left leg amputated just above the knee, he made himself a simple wooden version of his expensive prosthetic, and has to slide in his landings but the odd time the wooden leg comes off during freefall, it's not a $12,000 expense, and it makes great Bonfire wood Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there. vskydiver 0 #3 July 15, 2008 Oh! Poor guy! We have two jumpers up here with prosthetics. One has one prosthetic leg and another has both legs prosthetic. I'm pretty sure they both keep spare legs in the trunk of their car. Kind of funny watching them pull gear out of the trunk of their car and see a foot pop up. ltdiver 3 #4 July 16, 2008 When jumping with POE for the first time I asked that if one of their prosthetics came off would it fall faster or slower than the group? I was doing video and wanted to know if I'd need to dodge something quickly in freefall or not. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

iluvtofly 0 #6 July 16, 2008 We had a tandem student once neglect to tell ANYONE that he had a prosthetic leg. You could only imagine the look on the TI's face when he opened and the leg popped off. About a month later a farmer who had found it in his field brought it over to us. He just assumed it had come from someone skydiving.

We do, we just don't always admit it I've not been back to the Ranch since I moved to Florida, but I was up on NJ for work 2 weeks ago and a friend told me about this while we had dinner. Didn't realize the price tag though. Seriously, Kentucky's a good guy (and there's quite a story about the nickname too) and I hope he finds the leg. Best part of the article was the quote from him: "How many people do you know who lost the same leg twice?" It wouldn't hurt you to think like a fucking serial killer every once in a while - just for the sake of prevention
