RALFFERS 0 #1 July 22, 2008 Just a minute ago I went to the fridge to get some milk to make my protein shake - I wasn't sure how long it had been in there, so just as a precaution I checked the date to make sure it was still good; I am a bit shocked at what I saw... Written the carton was: "best if used by: 10/04.08." Ummmmmmmm......what's wrong with this picture... Jesus Christ! - I don't even wanna know how many chemicals, steroids and a slew of other things are put in our food & dairy products to make them last THAT long.Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of

Remster 30 #5 July 22, 2008 Wow... is that normal milk, or ultra pasterised?Remster
RALFFERS 0 #6 July 22, 2008 Not sure - it says Whole milk (3.25%) so I presume that's "normal" ... I took a picture of the date so that no one thinks I'm making this up. Also, while looking more closely at the carton, I did find small print on the side, in red: "once opened use contents within 7 days." But STILL... tigra 0 #18 July 22, 2008 Why did you buy milk in a box anyway? That reminds me of when I was in Europe many years ago and you couldn't find a real carton or bottle of milk anywhere, just that boxed stuff that didn't even need to be refrigerated. YUK! All the fat, zero flavor! Thank God that never caught on here in the US!

OK, well - after reading that it's safe to say that you're gonna call me crazy, ....I actually like the taste; come to think of it, it's the American stuff that doesn't taste good to me.; milk tastes like water - no flavor at all. The only thing I find a bit disturbing is the fact that it can be "fresh" [if not opened] for so long. In all fairness though, all milk - and food in general is LOADED with a ton of crap everyone would rather not no... As far as not catching on - I'm not to sure about that... You live in Chicago - take a ride through my part of town; it's European food galore around here (including this particular milk) in al the mom & pop stores. I was raised on my native food, can't help but like it. Not only because it's readily available here but also because I've been known to spend 3+ months at a time in Poland. That said, I like all kinds of food, especially Thia, Indian and Mexican. Am always up for trying new things as well. You wouldn't by chance like tartar, would ya?... tigra 0 #20 July 23, 2008 Tartar? I'm not sure about that but I remember in Germany having this stuff that was like a raw pork sausage- we'd spread it on bread with butter and cheese for breafast! YUM! Took some convincing to get me to eat it though because I was raised to believe meat- pork especially- had to be thoroughly (and I mean excessively) cooked in order to be safely consumed!
