rwieder 0 #101 July 23, 2008 QuoteIn this case, however, there is a court order, and this bozo is saying that if he is not given what he wants, he's going to cut off his kids. If this is the way it is, it won't be long before this young knave is riding the pine in the local County Pokee for Contempt Of Court. Anymore the sitting Judge will give them 30 days to get something going, because let's face it, the non custodial parent can't pay if they can't make money, now can they? I also want to take this opportunity to tell all of the custodial mothers out there that haven't been paid child support in a month, year or 5 years, resists the temtation to hire one of the T.V. lawyers. You don't really think they're doinf that for free, do you. Simply file a Contempt Of Court Charge, and let the judicial process work.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
normiss 885 #102 July 23, 2008 A divorce decree and child support are worlds apart in Florida. Child support is handled by the Department of Revenue....Divorce is handled by a judge, child support is typically handled by a "court appointed officer" (usually some pissed off bitch working for the DoR). I've never complained or ducked my responsibility of supporting my kids in any way and have always done more than their mom. My complain is during times of unemployment. They WILL throw your ass in jail for being unemployed. Apparently the courts feel fathers are better in jail instead of looking for work. Then when you get out they will gladly take your drivers license. I know a guy who is in jail now....for being unemployed for 9 months. They gave him a felony conviction for non payment of child support. When he gets out they have already promised to take his license and charge him again for being further behind. The system will never let this guy go now. His daughter is 24. His "arrears" all started over a one-time court cost for a hearing.....and the system restarted his child support. In Florida, you usually have to go to court to STOP child support after your kids turn 18...and that hearing took me over 2 years to get on my first one...This system is fucked up.
