181 is the number Precision uses, but if the Raven I were measured by the method PD uses, the number would be more like 170 or thereabouts.

Aw, NO! We're not gonna open that can of worms again, are we?[:/] I really do wish, a standard for measuring square parachute would be established! PD, measures one way, Precision, another way... PIA, has another method...:S

Twenty-some-odd years ago, PIA wrote a standard that worked great for simple, medium-sized rectangular canopies.
Unfortunately PIA's method was not good enough for compolex, tapered, elliptical canopies.

I can see, where the tapered, eliptical canopies would cause a problem, in regard to measuring. Some may be tapered more or less than others. It's kinda like our tax system here in the states... if it's simple and easy... the politicians wouldn't understand it! Thanks, for your reply!
