happythoughts 0 #1 July 26, 2008 When I first started, major systems that moved major amounts of money were on mainframes. You just couldn't get into them. To this day, there are systems that I can't access and I am supposed to be working on them. Also, if you were caught sharing info, you went to jail. I worked in Telecom. People would call up and want to know who their cheating spouse was calling or some such deal. Anything - you were fired, fined, and jailed. Now, my bank tells me that a 3rd party (ummm... right) has compromised my credit card... again. They've already sent me a new one. There are no odd charges on my account... yet, but they know of a problem. That means that an entire group of accounts was stolen, mine was in the group. At my last job, a DBA was fired for selling data. That person probably had to bribe their college admissions clerk because that is the way it works. Somewhere, there is a person making $1.85 an hour who has access to everyones credit info. I am not surprised and I am certainly tired of it.
PhreeZone 20 #2 July 26, 2008 My local pizza shop was broken into this week and they ended up having to call every one of their customers that used a credit card since their machine recorded and printed out the full card number on every reciept. Talk about a pain in the ass, the stores reciepts are NEVER to have the entire card number but their does and now we have to have new cards issued and our accounts monitored for a time peroid. Once again its because some person that should not have their hands on technology was given a credit card machine they did not know how to fully operate now means we are inconvienced for 6-12 months. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

happythoughts 0 #4 July 26, 2008 Quote Come and play poker Bill I think that I'm gonna watch a movie. The credit card thing is just the coup-de-gras for my day. I spent this morning doing a phone interview with someone that shouldn't be allowed to drive themselves to work. It's really funny. People are supposed to interview me by asking me questions that they got off a webpage. So, my future depends on their ability to understand what I am saying. I have such a low tolerance for it. "We are requiring 4 years of database experience." "Yes, that is on my resume." "Where?" (steam building...) "15 years of DB2... that is why you want to hire me, that is the database that you use." "Oh. How do you spell that?" I can train a monkey with a fez and a vest to do their job in one week.

I can't believe that there are retards out there that hold such positions. About the whole credit card thing - well, let me just say that I don't agree with the entire system at all - I don't like 1 thing about. I just find it disturbing that not only are our entire lives stored on computers, but now (for thr longest time) some magic number between 400 and 800 judges what kind of person I am???... And before anyone asks - no, I do not have a bad credit score...I just don't like how the system is setup. For 1 thing, identity theft would be nonexistent if a credit system wasn't in place. Furthermore, I am just a firm believer in that: "if you can't afford it, you can't afford it." Lastly, far too many judgments are made in regard to employment and whatnot if you don't have a squeaky clean credit report; people seem to forget that that life sometimes happens. I hope I didn't come across as angry in this post (I'm not) - just feel strongly about said topic. I'm sorry for your troubles, Bill - hope it gets straightened out without any damage or harm done.Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of
