AlRedler 0 #4 August 2, 2008 Those things that make me think "Most people I know can't understand how great this feels". Like being rear float at altitude, hanging on the back of the plane waiting for everyone else to get out and watching the Kent countryside moving beneath my feet, then looking up and seeing France in one direction and central London in the other. Or being in a stand and punching in to the top of a white fluffy cloud at 170mph. Actually just having a rig on my back and knowing the jump is on! skydiver30960 0 #13 August 3, 2008 ...that couple seconds when you're crouched in the door, when everybody on the jump is in position but the count hasn't started yet. The wind is in your face, the sun warms your skin, and you know that your're just about to begin the one thing that truly makes your heart sing. The skydive may go to total crap, or it may be awesome, but it doesn't matter because that moment is perfect. wmw999 2,573 #21 August 3, 2008 Yesterday, did four jumps with 8 friends. Second jump was weird and aggressive, we joked about going back to the first point. So, of course, we made it past that first point a second time, and were working on the second try a the third one. Lots of high-fives when we landed. There were people saying that they almost wished it was the last jump of the day, it went so well . And the next two were just about as good. Great day. Wendy W. There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. alw 0 #22 August 3, 2008 Knowing no matter where the DZ is or what the vibe is I'm with family. For whatever reason we want to be there we all understand there is no place else we'd really rather be. There aren't too many other places you can be and feel that. --------------------------------------------- Every day is a bonus - every night is an adventure. Muenkel 0 #23 August 3, 2008 Well it's been 5 years for me now but the memories are still inbedded in my brain. -Hearing my name called for the upcoming load. -The ride to altitude and seeing everyone with that unique sense of exhileration. -When the plane reaches that altitude when the door can be opened. Feeling that fresh clean air fill the plane and filter out all the residual farts. -At altitude when everyone turns to eachother with their show of support and fraternal friendship. -At the door, hearing and feeling the wind just outside with your heart pumping; proving how alive you are. -The exit, knowing you are on a journey you cannot turn back from and don't want to. -The excitement of getting stable and making the turns that are required (student speaking). -The opening of a perfect canopy and knowing you're in complete control of your destiny. -The peace and quiet while under canopy along with the most spectacular views. -Landing perfectly and safely. It may be a PLF, but who cares. -The high fives from your fellow jumpers who make you feel like they lived the whole experience with you. -Putting your name back up on manifest. _________________________________________ Chris
