PLFXpert 0 #3 August 5, 2008 It's really exciting! In my next life I want to be a hands-on field researcher protecting our flora & fauna. That must feel so amazing & be so rewarding to have discovered this "new" population.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
turtlespeed 226 #4 August 5, 2008 Quote Yea! Ya know . . . this thread title is only a few letters off. HORNEY Gorillas . . .I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
jakee 1,596 #5 August 5, 2008 Fantastic news for the lowland GorillasWorth remembering it's the Mountain Gorillas that are still really on the knife edge though... Do you want to have an ideagasm?
DougH 270 #6 August 5, 2008 On the edge, and they will be pushed over it for the sake of making charcoal. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
PLFXpert 0 #7 August 5, 2008 Semi-related: I'm a fan of Escape to Chimp Eden, and without fail I both laugh and cry every episode. Even with all things put into perspective (different cultures, governments, way-of-life, etc.) it's difficult to understand how people can do some of the things they do to these (or any) animals. DougH 270 #8 August 5, 2008 I know what you mean. I find it difficult to believe what some people do to their own species, no less ones unlike their own. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

CSpenceFLY 1 #11 August 5, 2008 I can't get excited about a find like this. We humans tend to fuck things up when we "find" them.
PLFXpert 0 #12 August 5, 2008 Shhhhh. That was my immediate second thought; the first was, "Yea!" I still have faith in "us", however cynical I can be. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

PLFXpert 0 #14 August 5, 2008 Quote The vast majority of the work is tedious. Yea, like cleaning the house every day because I'm an anal clean/organizational freak isn't. I'm of the position no job--no matter how much you love it--does not become tiresome. It's the little (sometimes big?) rewards that become the wind in your sails. As far as I'm concerned, the only people who wake up every day excited to go to work and have a smile on their face all the time whilst doing so are crazy. I like to get crazy. Sadly, I always sober up. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

When working as a Field Biologist, the paper work was the killer, being in the Field was great but that is only one part of the overall job, the rest of it sucked arse. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS!
