speeding tickets do you have, say, in the last 8 years?

I just got a letter from the state dept responsible for background checks. Since my part-time job is under the education dept, you know they do checks on all employees.

One look at my list, and I was like, damn.... and they still honored my hire? :S

7 speeding tickets, all in my home state, and it didn't mention the ones I have in other states. :$

I only have one in the last 4 years though. Either I've gotten more careful or I just don't drive all that much anymore. :D :S

My record was pretty good (only 1 I can think of in the last 5 years, and that was in Oklahoma) until just this past weekend. Got one for 62 in a 40 on my way home from the DZ. And it was on a 4-lane highway! :S>:(

On the way home???

I've got quite a few more tickets back in the late 90's not counted in the original post. ALL of them were ON THE WAY TO a DZ... :S

I have just as many warnings as I do tickets. One ticket for every two pull-overs. Not too shabby. But still... it's pitiful. :D

Haven't had a speeding ticket in bout 8 years, but I manage to get pulled over for some sort of moving violation about every two years.

I've got a funny story for you. A few months before I got married, my fiance and I were caravaning back home, and I got pulled over for going a little too fast. Being a dumb ass, I undid my seat-belt as soon as I shut off the engine. The trooper asked for my ID, etc. then came back with a ticket for me. I didn't understand what he was saying, so I assumed it was for speeding.

The next day I went to the courthouse to pay it, expecting to pay something like $80 to $120. The fee? A measly $10. WTF? I asked what the ticket was for... no seatbelt... I hadn't bothered to read the ticket itself.

Last ticket I got was two years ago for wiping out a mailbox after spinning out on a snow covered road.

To add insult to injury, back in 1989 I was making a trip from college in Rochester, NY to Lake Placid to go skiing. It started snowing when I entered the Adirondack Mountains. No problem, I'd gained some good experience on how to drive on snow. Checking the map, the road I was on, was supposed to make a dogleg curve to the left with a smaller road intersecting it in an upside down "Y". I wasn't even at the speed limit, just a bit lower, actually, 45 in a 50. I knew I was getting close to that intersection but failed to notice the snow-covered sign I had just passed, and then when it was too late to do anything, realized I was about to run off the road at a "T" intersection! Flew partially over the ditch on the far side, plowing into the embankment on the other side and missing the concrete light pole by less than a foot. Car was totalled. Soon after a trooper happened by. Fucktard gave me a ticket for "Unreasonable Speed", as if a ruined weekend and no car wasn't enough. >:(

NYS Troopers are such wonderful folks, no?

Grew up in Western NY - South of Buffalo. Got my 1st speeding ticket from a trooper in '85 for doing 92 in a 55 (on the Southern Tier Expressway - Then it was Route 17) - Damn near got my ass hauled to jail for that one.

Easy Does It
