Bear Grills skydiving again on Discovery...

Yep me too. They found out he was staying in hotels and chillin when he was claming to be out in the wild. It’s like any thing else you have a few good shows like that now there is a new one every week. I always love how they try to make you think their in danger off course there is a whole camera crew that just happens to catch them from ten different angels.

Survivorman > Man vs. Wild

I stopped watching MvW when I figured out that he didn't do everything he said he was doing; which was some time ago.

I watched that for the first time for about two minutes last night. My first question was, if he's stranded in the wilderness, then why does he (obviously) have a camera crew with him? And then I wondered what the hell that stuff was that he was drinking out of the snake. And then I lost interest and started watching something else.

It's not his purpose to trick you into thinking he's staying outdoors. They have a disclaimer.

When I heard about his antics last year I too thought I would stop watching. However, now I realize his purpose is to strictly show survival "scenarios and situations". He's a decent guy as far as learning from him. Plus, the dude will eat some nasty shit!:D:S

As soon as they yell cut he gets a nice steak and wine.:P;)

I guess he is teaching surviving but they try to make it seem like he is so EXTREEM and in danger. He always used to say his film crew would not get involved unless it is absolutely necessary. They did definitely try to get away with making you think he is in real danger and not chillin in a hotel having hot co co.

I am weird like that I used to watch him but now every time I watch him there is a voice in my head screaming things like FAKE, YEA RIGHT, Sure you’ll sleep in the cold you byotch.

I might have a devil on each shoulder who knows.:)

if you use the survival advice from man vs wild, you could kill yourself. in one of his early shows, he heard something outside his shelter in the middle of the night. fearing it might be a grizzly and wanting to put as much distance between him and the grizzly, he jumped up and just started sprinting through the woods for who knows how long. entertaining, but stupid

Fuck that. Man vs. Wild is some fake crap, and always makes me think of some reality tv show. Survivor man is legit, and the danger is real. I have seen him on other shows, such as "Living off the grid" and he is a bad ass. He went to jail for awhile and when he got out, he got married and lived in the outdoors in super primitive fashion. His advice is real, and so are his shows. So, do you want information or entertainment?

The best program I watched like that was "Hunting Chris Ryan". It was only a small series. Four episodes I think. Ex-SAS soldier basically doing Escape & Evasion with so called highly trained hunter forces after him. Mostly filmed by himself with a camcorder but every now and again links in with camera crew.

Was great to watch. They are all on YouTube:

If you read the books "Bravo Two Zero" by Andy McNab and "The One That Got Away" by Chris Ryan they are great versions of the famous patrols situation.

I got most of their books and I managed to get a signed copy of one of Andy McNabs :)
Chris did get hypothermia in this series and had to be rescued so it was pretty damn close to being real!

If that is the case, why does he act as though he is going to sleep for the night and acting as if he is waking up the next morning, when we all know he stayed in a hotel?

I know Bear and he's a decent guy - if a little fucking strange! He is ex-SAS, too (although he was never in the Regulars).

I am quite sure that he does what the producers/directors tell him to do. I don;t have any doubt that he would sleep in the cold or jump into a river for real if he needed to - any SF soldier would have done just that in the past.

I think he's a decent guy too, probably doing what producers want or wish for him to do, and trying his best to put on an entertaining show. Like I said, initially I was "anti-Bear", but damn people should give the guy a fuckin break. They (present company excluded) wouldn't do probably a tenth of what Bear would do (or can do), and here they go talkin shit! B|B|
