It reminds of this guy who some might remember, ski jumper Eddie the Eagle, from the '88 Winter Olympics. Eddie wore thick glasses, crashed a lot, and came in dead last. But he won the hearts of everyone. Everyone except the other ski jumpers because Eddie was getting all the attention . . . Seems this competitor learned how to swim just 6 weeks prior to the Olympics and was given massive applause as he completed his event. Sure he was last, he was slow, but he had heart and completed the race.
