Helmet travel

Recommended Posts

Fitz and I travel with all of our stuff and we just strap them to our carryone and stow it in the overhead compartment with the rigs. No problem....though passengers do seem to take quite an interest and you get the whuffo statements like "if it goes down, I'm sticking with you". :P

Total equipment (rigs, 3 helmets, alti's, mp3 players, book for plane, logbooks, couple snacks, writing pad)....no problems at all for us to carry on.

There is a fine line between cockiness and confidence -- which side of the line are you on?

One thing not to do is use your full face helmet to carry your weights, dytter, alti and assorted underwear (to pack it all so it won't move about too much) and then take it as carry on...

Apparently lead weights and dytters look very suspicious on the xray machine... and they will make you unpack it, underwear included, there in front of everyone:$ and you will get strange looks as they wonder why you have a black full face helmet full of thongs!!!

(I thought it was a good way to avoid XS baggage on 10 pounds of lead weight!)

Don't sweat the petty things... and don't pet the sweaty things!

I put my helmet INSIDE... the backpack i carry on... And i leave the diter in it always.. I have traveled with it over 5 times and they never even look at me twice for some reason... The rig i carry on in one of those small rolling suitcases.. it fits perfect with just enough room for my logbook...
I prefer having mine inside a bag and protected.. it is still relatively new and i dont want it to get all scratched up :S ( i know i know.. im a little bitch...)

I personally dont like putting my $500 helmet under the plane.. i cant really afford to buy a new one at the moment.. anything i cant afford to loose stays with me while i travel...
