What do you do with the helmet?
What if your helmet doesn't fit in the gear bag, and you don't want to crush it?

Ive been wondering the same thing. Im planning on taking my camera helmet,...so its even bigger than a normal helmet. Not sure yet what im going to do.

Put it in your suitcase with your clothes.

You can always buy fresh underwear when you get there.

I carry a small backpack instead of a purse. I just strap it to the outside.

That is if I don't check luggage. If I check luggage, I stuff it with my bras and panties and pack it between my clothes.

Fitz and I travel with all of our stuff and we just strap them to our carryone and stow it in the overhead compartment with the rigs. No problem....though passengers do seem to take quite an interest and you get the whuffo statements like "if it goes down, I'm sticking with you".

Total equipment (rigs, 3 helmets, alti's, mp3 players, book for plane, logbooks, couple snacks, writing pad)....no problems at all for us to carry on.

Currently, I just have protec, so its not an issue, but I'll eventually be buying a FF2

Put it in a military flight helmet bag and carry it on. Any helmet I would consider putting on my head, I would not worry about being crushable. If you have a ten dollar head, put it in a ten dollar helmet.

One thing not to do is use your full face helmet to carry your weights, dytter, alti and assorted underwear (to pack it all so it won't move about too much) and then take it as carry on...

Apparently lead weights and dytters look very suspicious on the xray machine... and they will make you unpack it, underwear included, there in front of everyone and you will get strange looks as they wonder why you have a black full face helmet full of thongs!!!

(I thought it was a good way to avoid XS baggage on 10 pounds of lead weight!)

I put my helmet INSIDE... the backpack i carry on... And i leave the diter in it always.. I have traveled with it over 5 times and they never even look at me twice for some reason... The rig i carry on in one of those small rolling suitcases.. it fits perfect with just enough room for my logbook...
I prefer having mine inside a bag and protected.. it is still relatively new and i dont want it to get all scratched up ( i know i know.. im a little bitch...)

I personally dont like putting my $500 helmet under the plane.. i cant really afford to buy a new one at the moment.. anything i cant afford to loose stays with me while i travel...
