chuckakers 426 #3 August 13, 2008 That's weird. The nearest DZ to that area is Skydive Spaceland, and they are waaaay too far away for someone to have ended up there. There is some once-in-a-while private jumping around the area, but I haven't heard of any happening on that side of town. I'm anxious to hear more. So far nothing new.Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
chuckakers 426 #4 August 13, 2008 Uh oh. Looking at Google maps http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&safe=off&q=Sylvan+Beach+La+Porte,+texas&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=title the LaPorte Municipal Airport is a stones throw from Sylvan Beach. However, I don't know of any jumping activity there. HmmmChuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
AggieDave 6 #5 August 13, 2008 Russell Webb has been doing tandems on to the beach in that part of Texas. I don't remember who he said has been flying, but he implied that they have done it a few times over the last year.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Beachbum 0 #6 August 13, 2008 Based on comment below the article on the news site ... sounds like it was a powered parachute setup. I've seen them around the bay a few times when I've been out fishing, and lots of times down at the beach. As long as you are happy with yourself ... who cares what the rest of the world thinks? It appears this is a powered parachute and it has not yet been found.Chuck Akers D-10855 Houston, TX
