My computer is talking to me

Recommended Posts

No, I'm not drinking or doing drugs.

Every 5 to 10 minutes I get these weird audio feeds. Ads, music, random talking. They are 2-3 seconds long.

I'm only logged on here and on Yahoo IM.

Does anyone know what might be doing this?

Yahoo IM offers PC to PC calling make sure you did not accidentally activate it. ;)

I haven't done anything different. Same as it always is.

Most of the audio is ads and music and a random voice now and then. It started yesterday.

Did you reboot?

Twice.

I even got a "you've got mail baby" and I don't have AOL. :D I hear that on my mom's computer when she logs on.

Actually it should say - YOU HAVE VIRUS!

I get that too, and I don't even need to be near a computer.:S
It was a bit disconcerting at first, but it's kind of nice once you get used to it;

I don't know what is going on. I get random audio feeds, my curser moves without me, my printer no longer exists on the computer....

It's actually making me laugh. :D

Lemme go out on a limb here; You're running Windows, right?:P

Step 1: GET A FIREWALL!! ZoneAlarm works well. (Been using it for years & it won't let anything through unless YOU allow it.)

Step 2: As stated above, download SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY and ADAWARE, then run them.

Step 3: Download a free anti-virus program (I use www.avast.com).

You got an infected computer, girl. It won't get better by itself!

Edited to add: Step 4: Download FIREFOX & use that as your primary web browser! (in the last 2 years I've been forced to use Internet Exploder twice)
When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
