Have you ever wondered who makes those comments on YouTube?

Recommended Posts

It's hard to read some of the real posts after some vids. I just saw one the other day about a Hasidic Jewish boy, of nine years old, who got trapped in an elevator on the 7th floor of a New York Project Building. He somehow got the door open and tried to jump down to the floor below, but he lost his balance and fell backwards into the shaft.

The first comment was, "So why are joos living in the Projects and sucking off public monies?"

Then there are the skydiving and BASE vids where someone always says, "I hope they die!"

I try hard not to believe some people really feel that way, or are that stupid, but I'm afraid they are. All you have to do is watch the call in portion of CSPAN's Washington Journal to know how scary it is out there . . .

Yeah - I know - What's hilarious is when two retards get into poorly spelled, cursing wars with each other about who's made the most skydives when any real skydiver can tell it's just a bunch of whuffo 9 year olds from Macedonia. :S

Then you go and watch a movie like "Idiocracy" and in the first five minutes, after the "documentary" footage about stupid people far outbreeding smart people, and even though you know it's a "fictional" movie you know it's TRUE.

And so you become like me, and lose all hope for the future of mankind, and understand that if we don't have very very limited time left, and we're going to endure, it's just going to be in the same hobbling, sorry, just-barely-getting-by state we've always been in.

Does anyone see us ever becoming the progress-oriented, unified, wisened kind of society, without stupid, artificial divisions between us that cause strife, like they depict in our future in "Star Trek"?

I don't. I think that basic, intrinsic flaws in human nature will always plague us. We have not overcome anything, where driving out our undesirable traits is concerned. Every bad thing about humans that was so thousands of years ago is with us today, from greed to envy to hatred to laziness to ignorance and stupidity... The internet has given us new ways to put it on display whereas it used to remain relatively hidden, and known only to those close to us.

"You noobs need to learn how to 1337speak."

How did I know that.

OMG MEGA H4X!

:D:D:D

There's a page on Microsoft's website somewhere that explains 1337speak to concerned parents. Here's an exerpt from another site, quoting it:

While it's important to respect your children's privacy, understanding what your teenager's online slang means and how to decipher it is important as you help guide their online experience. While it has many nicknames, information-age slang is commonly referred to as leetspeek, or leet for short. Leet (a vernacular form of "elite") is a specific type of computer slang where a user replaces regular letters with other keyboard characters to form words phonetically—creating the digital equivalent of pig Latin with a twist of hieroglyphics.

Leet words can be expressed in hundreds of ways using different substitutions and combinations, but once one understands that nearly all characters are formed as phonemes and symbols, leetspeek isn't difficult to translate.

A few examples:

Leet words possibly indicating illegal activity:

* "warez" or "w4r3z": Illegally copied software available for download.
* "h4x": Read as "hacks," or what a computer hacker does.
* "sploitz" (short for exploits): Vulnerabilities in computer software used by hackers.
* "pwn": A typo-deliberate version of own, a slang term that means to dominate. This could also be spelled "0\/\/n3d" or "pwn3d," among other variations. Online video game bullies or "griefers" often use this term.

Skydiving: You either learn from other's mistakes, or they'll learn from yours.
