Who are you?

Recommended Posts

To some people I'm level headed, to others I'm a troll. To some I'm a lefty to others a Conservative. Some believe I'm anti guns but the people I shoot with would disagree. My friends have an idea of who I am and so do I maybe and thats all that matters.

If i respect you, your opinion matters to me, if I dont, your opinion does not mean squat to me.
There are a couple of people on here I respect. but not many

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had an online friend who had my respect and admiration. I thought he was brilliant and wise.

In real life, he turned out to be a racist, narrow-minded fuckhead. A loud one, to boot. Embarrassingly so.

I have several stories like that.

I also have stories of people who I thought were total assholes online who turned out to be really terrific people in person.

I have several stories like that too.

C. All of the above. B|

I play a part online sometimes (often? :$) because it's fun.

It's my opinion others would think me far nicer in real life than online. I don't think I'm that much of a bitch online, though, am I? Rhetorical.

To answer the original question: Yes, I know who I am. I'm extremely self-aware.

It only bothers me if someone thinks I'm something I'm not when I've invested enough time & info into them and they still have no fucking clue. That's disappointing. It either means I've not done a effective job of communicating or they are an unperceptive idiot. I'd like to assume the latter. :):P

I have a name, but I'm thinking of changing my persona to:

The stump formerly known as leg.

So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Interesting. I've had the opposite experience in that everyone I've met online first has turned out to be pretty much exactly what I expected when I met them in person.
I've never noticed much difference in people's online vs. offline personas. But I guess that could just be a perception thing.

I've had very similar experiences to yours, Keely. Although I've met some posters in person first, the posters whom I've met online first were as I had expected them to be, when I met them in person. Any surprises or subtle differences were usually interesting and didn't turn me off to them as people.
Personally, I don't think that most people set out to be a specific "online persona". People often just favor one communication style over another, allowing some to express themselves more easily through written word, than others.
The posts that we witness on here do not fully capture the full spectrum of someone's personality. It's just another piece of the puzzle of who that person is, or how he/she might be feeling at one given moment.

These pretty much cover my experiences as well. When it comes to the 'Who am I' question the above holds true. I am the same person whether I am sitting at a keyboard, sitting around a table with others, or where ever life places me at any given moment. Simply put, I don't have the desire, time or energy to be something or someone I'm truly not, at any point or time in the world. Life is far too short, to be wasted on not being true to yourself & those souls that become part of your life.
It's pretty pathetic when you have to TELL people you're fucking cool Skymama «narrative»This thread will lock in 3..2.. What a load of narrow-minded Xenophobic Bullshit!-squeak

Aw, hell, not only am I different on line than I am in real life, I'm different in different situations in real life.

My patients all tell me I'm patient, supportive, positive, and caring.

My friends would say I have a good heart and a wild side.

On here, Lord knows I'm not popular and things I say are often taken differently than I'd expected them to be. I'm a bitch. Self- centered. Negative. Bitter. Umm...let's see, what else? :D

In the end, I'd have to say I am all of the above.

Plus, incredibly sexy and irresistable. :D:D:D

Now where's the everclear?!!:)

I used to care about what was said here. Now I don't really care what faceless internet people think. Things get misconstrued here, in person things tend to work a lot better.

In one respect, I think I'm very similar to most people...those I care about, opinions matter. Those I don't care about, it doesn't matter.

On-line I'm a little more boisterous than in real life. Normally I'm quiet and reserved. However, I can be as nice or as nasty as you are to me.

My sigline has meaning...its' not just some fluff I dreamed up.

As far as those online...most that I have met have not been much different. With only a couple of notable exceptions.

The snobbish are so in real life, the assholes, the good, the bad and the ugly....
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.
