pilotdave 0 #1 December 16, 2005 Ok, I've had my bev competition suit since I was a student. Won a $195 off gift certificate last december and haven't used it yet. It expires at the end of the month, so it's time to order! I thought I knew what I wanted, but now I'm questioning myself. First of all, I'm deciding between the comp suit and the majik style comp suit. As far as I can tell from the order form, the only differences are that the upper arms don't have spandex on the back, and the additional options of mega booties, coolmax lining, and different grippers. Anything I'm missing? What's the reason for the change to the arms? Is it beneficial? Make the suit any harder to put on or take off cause of less stretch in the arms? How bad an idea are mega booties for a small person? Everybody seems to love them, but I don't know if they'd just act like speed brakes on my legs. How bout regular sized pleated booties? How about fat or square grippers? I don't do any hardcore 4-way. They beneficial for bigways? How much can I expect them to slow my fallrate? Thanks! Dionysus 0 #2 December 16, 2005 I have three of the Bev comp suits, they're great! I did get the mega booties and I think they work very well. I do recommend you get the bootie zippers, it makes it much easier to take them on and off. I doubt you would have any fall rate problems with the larger booties. However, I should add that I'm a big boy so I may not be the best person to ask. Not having the spandex on the arms seems to help keep the arm gripper more stable when tension is put on it. I have not noticed a difference in putting on the suit. I much prefer, as do my teammates, the fat grips as opposed to the square grips. The square ones are almost too big in my opinion and I have fairly large hands. I can't imagine you would notice a fall rate difference between the two. Keep in mind they only put the square grips on the arms not the legs. If you order the fat grips those are on both the arms and legs.

GravityGirl 0 #4 December 16, 2005 As for the arm grips: If you weight tends to fluxuate or you work out a lot with your upper body, the regular spandex is more comfortable as it allows for some growth. If you are planning serious RW. Turning points, doing blocks, then go for the Majik grips. When you are gripped and flying aggressivly, it allows more positive motion and less wear because you are not pulling on spandex. All of Bev's booties are good. If you are doing serious RW with lots of leg turns, then the Mega booties offer an little edge in that department. Coolmax lining is good if you are creaping the skydive in your jumpsuit on hot days. Being small should not be a factor for the Mega Bootie. The regular booties should be good for you also. For big ways, you never know who will be gripping you. I would go for standard grips. Personally, I have small hands and I would rather hold on to a standard grip than a fatty daddy. All in all. From what you have written I would say the comp suit would suit you. Consider the Cool Max lining if you live in a hot climate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
brettski74 0 #5 March 11, 2007 Does anyone know what difference pleated booties make over non-pleated booties? I'm assuming that it probably maintains the shape of the fabric in flight better and gives more positive leg turns, but I'm just guessing.
