Why were you there?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Amazon 7 #3 September 1, 2008 Its the highest place you can drive to in Washington. It is near the Pacific Crest Trail and has gorgeous vistas o f the far northern reaches of the North Cascades National Park as well as a great view to the east into the Pasayten Wilderness Area. On both sides of the ridge.. are WIDE.. soft alpine meadows that one can launch and then land a paraglider.. or a hang glider.( been there done that... a few timesSigh.. just too windy..... the currents there can be tricky even when the weather is perfect... To me its one of those special places.. a place to get away... drive to the top of the mountains...and be surrounded by the works of nature... not the works of man. So there is a landing strip you can fly a plane into . . . and then take off and subsequently, jump out?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Amazon 7 #5 September 1, 2008 One of the meadows.. is flat where one could land a brush plane if it had the big balloon tires... but there is a road all the way up there.... but the summers are short...and usually not very many people... I love it there. It is also an area where I have hunterd during the early buck season.. a short 6 mile walk to the north into the wilderness to set up camp... a crystal clear lake to camp by.. and mule deer abundant as well as kitties and bear.. I think the final count of deer was 34 for the day. I did see one kitty yesterday.. long way off.. thru the spotting scope... when I took a couple mile hike along Gold Ridge towards Pasayten Peak.... I LOVE kitties
JohnMitchell 16 #6 September 1, 2008 Yep, it was freakin cold at altitude, and we had a lot of precip moving through. I'm not surprised at all that you got snowed on. Damn, this summer was short.
