They have declared a state of emergency in Bangkok yesterday. So is anyone here in Thailand at the moment, is it safe to travel there??? bigway 4 #2 September 2, 2008 I have been there 8 times and a couple of times at the worst of times to go there but i would not go this time. Not because it is dangerous but because it would suck. You will be safe there, you just will be put out constantly. It would be like sitting in an airport for a week. thats the vibe im getting from there. My partner is leaving on Thursday for Bangkok to meet a friend but she is dreading it because of what is going on you should not fear for your safety though. The thai people are wonderful and Bangkok is not a dangerous place, much further south maybe but not bangkok.
