Shotgun 1 #4 August 14, 2008 Sorry, I guess I should have put more info. From wikipedia: Quote The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest particle accelerator complex, intended to collide opposing beams of 7 TeV protons. Its main purpose is to explore the validity and limitations of the Standard Model, the current theoretical picture for particle physics. This model is known to break down at a certain high energy level. The LHC was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and lies under the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. The LHC is the world's largest and the highest-energy particle accelerator. It is funded and built in collaboration with over eight-thousand physicists from over eighty-five countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories. CERN Rap is a funny song/video that they made to explain a bit about the LHC.

birdlike 0 #9 September 2, 2008 This thread needed better marketing. Perhaps a little more info in the thread title stating what it's actually about! And yeah, did the turn-on date elapse already and we didn't all get sucked into oblivion? (Hey, that doesn't sound half bad...! ) edit: I just read on CNN, turn-on date is 9/10. ...Hold your breath!... birdlike 0 #10 September 2, 2008 Quote The Rap is a geeky musical joke(?) The funny thing is, quality-wise it's a FAR BETTER RAP than most "real" rap. The lines actually RHYME. People will say, "Oh, well, rap is the new way we will have to 'reach kids' with educational messages." But really, who believes that the kids who like rap are going to be turned on to science by this just because the delivery is made "hip"? That just never works.Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire

Shotgun 1 #12 September 2, 2008 Quote This thread needed better marketing. Perhaps a little more info in the thread title stating what it's actually about! Well, I thought that CERN had been in the news so much that people would know what it was about. Oh well, it's not like it was important or anything.
