I personally think that this lady and her kids are abnormal. I think that there's a dysfunction going on, here, although I'm not qualified to diagnose its exact nature.

So, you didn't get the sense that we were lookin' at a bunch of really serious WEIRDOS?

I figure that a person can come out of a household where the parents smoked and be relatively normal. Not a psycho-social freakshow, like I fear these kids stand a very good chance of being. What goes on at their school? They'd be in the equivalent of 3rd grade. Do they talk to their classmates about how sweet their mommy's breast milk was this morning before school??

They didn't really say whether this family does this when they are out and about -- like many women do with infants they breast feed (and I have ZERO problem with that). If they demur from doing this when out, I take that as a tacit admission that even they feel what they are doing is not quite right.

P.S. Both of my parents smoked cigarettes and raised four kids (two boys, two girls) each of whom have never smoked a day in their lives.
