birdlike 0 #1 September 9, 2008 The Invisible." Kind of a sleeper. I actually don't remember it being out in theaters, but I saw previews on DVDs I had watched and then finally spotted it at the library to take home and watch. I'm in the middle of it right now. It's really good! Very well done. I recommend it, and I haven't even finished it. (Of course, there's still a chance that the ending sucks, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt based on the beginning and middle so far.) Cast of unknowns, except for Marcia Gay Harden (whose name always makes me chuckle). Why are these movies almost always better than the big-name Hollywood counterparts?! Conundrum 1 #3 September 9, 2008 I wanted to see it in theatre. Never got a chance so when it came out to rent, I did. I was very disappointed. It started out nicely then just kind of got... eh.
birdlike 0 #4 September 9, 2008 Heh. No, I do that a lot with movies on DVD. I'll take breaks to tie knots, make and eat food, fold laundry, all kindsa stuff. It's not a reflection on the movie. ...Well, I've finished it, now, and I admit that it did change a bit in tone from one part to the next (by the end, anyway) and became just a bit more "Hollywood" by the last fifteen minutes, but it was still a better-than-average movie. Interesting soundtrack, too. I'm reading now in the credits that it's based on a novel by someone named Mats Wahl, although I can't read the tiny type of the name. I assume that's in part because it's a Swedish name, since it says, "and the Swedish film of the same name." (Mmmm is that anything like Swedish Fish? Why is it that even with movies that are made in modern, recent years, when they come out of DVD with its vaunted resolution, you still can't read the damned small type in the credits?? That makes no sense to me. They're as clear as mud. Spirits fly on dangerous missions Imaginations on fire
