Lostinspace 0 #1 December 6, 2005 I need a new pilot chute and my kill line needs to be replaced. Should I order a Main PC/Center line or just order a Main PC and have a rigger replace the kill line? ... or see if I can replace the kill line during DeWolf's rigging class next month? Mirage: Parts: Main PC - Center Line 110.00 Parts: Main PC - Std F1-11 55.00 Thank you, Belinda
wmw999 2,586 #2 December 6, 2005 I replaced my PC, and centerline, in separate operations. Happy with the result. I'm a senior rigger who no longer rigs actively. So go for it as long as you are careful to measure, and think about the mechanics of what you're working on before you take something apart. councilman24 37 #3 December 6, 2005 In the old days pilot chutes were separate from bridles. These days almost all pilot chutes, collapsable or not, come already attached to a bridle. Usually sewn together as a single item. This means that you won't put the new PC on the old bridle. You'll be replacing both. Note there is no main bridle listed on the parts list. Converting a standard PC to a collapsable is not easy, trivial, worth the effort, or ususally done. You'll probably be busy enough at Dave's course. The kill line in your old one can be replaced, but to replace the PC itself just buy a new collapsable. Wendy, was it long enough ago that you could by a PC with out a bridle? Or did you take a non collapsable apart and put on the kill line bridle? Or did you make your own PC?I'm old for my age. mattjw916 2 #4 December 6, 2005 Personally, I'd just buy a new full kill line PC bridle, etc... It comes as one complete part assembled by Mirage and for ~$35 bucks extra you can get a custom colored FF or hackey handle if you don't want the plastic toggle thingy. Plus when it shows up it'll take a whopping 5 min to install.NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

mattjw916 2 #6 December 6, 2005 Sure, but then you have to drive there, drop it off, pay for the sewing and labor, then pick it up. Since I have 0 free time, I just bought one fully assembled and swapped it out myself... a completely quick/painless experience.NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
