How many 100 events did you go to get a completion?

Recommended Posts

VanillaSkyGirls post about getting her first 100 completion in her logbook got me thinking. I did around 55 +100 way jumps before I got my first completed 100way in my book. Having more, it seems, big way camps and more importantly having 100 way jumps right after a camp seems to be making a difference.

My first completion was at z-hills and I to remember it like it was yesterday. It had taken a long time, lot’s of trip and lot’s of money. I started out to “just get a 100 way in my log book” LOL. Well I’ve enjoyed the pure hell out of it!

So how many events did you go before you got a completion and WHERE were you?

Is this question asking how many 100-way events, or how many 100-way jumps we did before completion? It was the second jump of the second day of 100-way jumping. I had a new slot on this day.

If this is asking for how many events, it was my first 100-way event.
It was our group's 6 jump of the camp.
It was the 2nd jump of the day.
It was my 2nd jump in my new slot (different plane, different slot, different exit, etc).

I didn't answer the poll. It was my first time doing 100-ways, so I cannot compare this to anything else. The other group got theirs on the last jump of the last day. We were all pleased with our growth. It was due to the organizers' incredible coaching and the general feelings of the participants.

I successfully completed a 100 way in my first such event (New Jersey state record 1997). Other 100+ way events have been: NJ 101 way attempts, 1998 (failed, 1 out); NJ state record 101 way, 1999; Georgia 100 way record attempts, 1998 (failed); World Record 105 way star attempts, Chester, SC, 1998 (failed spectacularly).

Two made, three failed. Not too shabby.

My first 100 plus way event was September 5, 1999. The first JFTC event and we built a 118 way all women. Kate had a lot of trust in me, or either she felt sorry for me, and put me on the event not having any big way experience.

Answer? Not sure.

I do remember one where we had 130+ and did the first point successfully,
keyed it, went to the second point,
and keyed it... just one grip short of a second point.

We did the first and third points successfully.

Lesson learned? Wait until you see the video to do the hootin' and hollerin'.

Everybody was making noise under canopy.
