NWFlyer 2 #1 September 26, 2008 So ... I would like to get out of my T-Mobile contract. I've been with them for four or five years now and have generally been really happy with the coverage, service, rates, etc.... except that I moved into a new apartment that seems to be a black hole of T-Mobile coverage. I call up T-Mobile and they say "well, you're in a 4-bar coverage area outdoors, so we can't let you out of your contract for lack of coverage." Of course this doesn't help me inside my apartment, where if I step more than a foot away from a window I risk dropping my calls. My work BlackBerry (which is Verizon) consistently has excellent coverage, so I just want to go out and get myself a Verizon phone and be done with it. But unfortunately I'm stuck with this TMobile contract till June 1, 2009. So here's the deal! You transfer my contract into your name and start making the payments. You'll get a very generous rate plan that they don't offer "on the street" anymore. It's $49.95 for 1500 anytime minutes (plus unlimited nights and weekends). I'm looking at paying *more* for 900 minutes with Verizon. You'll pay $15 to get your own phone number. Plus you get my phone and SIM card free, or you can get whatever phone you want. You can add on data, text messaging, etc. if you want, too."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Gawain 0 #2 September 26, 2008 Ask them if they can suspend your account because you're going out of town or something... Other than that, good luck, you couldn't pay me to go to T-Mobile. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! We've had T-mobile for years too...do a lotta international calling and somehow snuck in sideways some time back with an international plan better than anyone has. As far as signal strength goes.... I had a similar problem in that due to our 'community standards for development' no new cell towers can be put up, not a big deal at the old house but where we are now is kind of an iffy dead-zone at times unless like you...I go outside. Then a few months ago my samsung fancy candy-bar contraption bit the dust so I picked up a new Razor... I dunno what the internal difference is but I now have 4 bars inside in any room, much clearer on the voice and faster on the net & texting...just a thought. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
downwardspiral 0 #4 September 26, 2008 I have a razor as well and I'm very impressed with the signal quality I constantly get. I'm with AT&T if that makes a difference. Somebody needs to confirm this because I'm not sure but I think you can plug a phone into a phone jack and still use 911 if you don't have a landline.www.FourWheelerHB.com
NWFlyer 2 #5 September 26, 2008 Quote Did you try a different phone? My boyfriend has a different phone (also TMobile) and gets about the same number of bars as I do in the apartment. Gawain 0 #6 September 26, 2008 Also, I'm surprised that the customer service rep didn't try to push "T-Mobile @ Home"...not that I think it's worth it. Since your contract expires in June 2009, what would your ETF be if you just port your number to VZW?So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! I was surprised - he was pretty cool about finding ways to get me out of my contract. Quote Since your contract expires in June 2009, what would your ETF be if you just port your number to VZW? Please speak English, not acronym. I got the VZW but what does ETF mean? I'm actually okay with a new number since I'm in a new area/area code (though I wasn't planning to change the hold number till I started having this whole TMobile service issue)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. NWFlyer 2 #9 September 26, 2008 Quote ETF = Early Termination Fee Ohhh. $200. Looked at switching to the lowest-cost plan for 8 months, and that works out to be more than $200."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. Ideally I wouldn't have to carry two devices at all, but work is very particular that it's a work-only phone, and the bills go straight to them, I don't have to see the bills, pay the bills, or deal with expenses at all, which is pretty sweet. The downside is that it is for work-related calls only, so I still need a phone that I can use at home. I really just want a phone phone!"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J.
