councilman24 37 #2 December 2, 2005 Not enough information. DOM's? Number of jumps? type of triathlon? (okay, may not matter but you need to know) original lines? or age of lines? wear and tear? modifications to container? Repairs needed? Repairs made?I'm old for my age. anabatic 0 #3 December 2, 2005 Triathlon 135 canopy with approximately 75 jumps, isn't stating what type of triathlon. The reserve is a Tempo 120 with no jumps. again doesn't state what type of tempo it is the containter looks like it could be from 98, 99 they do not state but i looks like the rigs i learned on which were Javelins from 98-00 from what the drop zone owner told me. almost no wear and tear, rig looks in emaculant condition
tso-d_chris 0 #4 December 2, 2005 The Triathlon comes in three versions. One is for freefall skydiving, and is the most commmon. One is for CRW, and one is a combination of the two, known as a Hybrid. If it is a freefall version, the Pilot chute bridle (and D-Bag) will attach the the canopy in the typical manner. If it is the CRW version or the hybrid, there is a reefing system on the top skin of the canopy that pulls the pilot chute to the top of the canopy upon inflation. Does the bottom of the Javelin's reserve pin cover flap tuck into anything, or is it secured by only the two tuck tabs on the side? Are the laterals cut-in, or do they attach to the container at the corner of the backpad and side panel? How many pack jobs are on the reserve? This tends to be a better indication of wear than jump number. Openings may wear out lines, but packing wears out fabric. You should be able to find the Date of Manufacture for the canopies on their warning labels. The DOM for the harness/container and the reserve should also be annotated on the Reserve Packing Data Card. Th container should also have its own tag stating the DOM and container size, as well as the yoke and Main Lift Web size. If you weigh more than about 95lbs. without gear, the reserve is too small, and likely the the main is, too. Based on the questions you are asking (legitimate questions), I am assuming you have less than 100 jumps. It is usually better to have a reserve slightly bigger than your main, instead of slightly smaller, especially for newer jumpers. A good price on used gear is only a bargain if you need used gear, and it is sized appropriately. For Great Deals on Gear
anabatic 0 #5 December 2, 2005 it is the freefall version from what they have said to me the javelin rig everrything is tucked when closed the top flap that covers the reserve pin ticks into the rig itself, the bottom folds under, i have jumped a rig similar to it minus the color sheem so its a good freefly rig from what i have been told by my instructors (but they are in AU so cant get them to check out more closely) pack jobs on the reserve is 5 times yes actually only have 67 jumps in you are correct, the weight ratio is correct for me i am aonly 140lbs tall and slender not to tall though... i'm just trying to get some ideas on this im looking for a rig and well im really new to all this so not as knowledgeable as most people in the sport i do need to buy used gear, not because i cant afford new gear but because well used gear is a bit cheaper... you never know whats going to happen next week or the week after... i will get the DOM on both container main and reserve and i'll post them ASAP... thank you so much the information posted already has helped a great deal... It doesn't even sound like YOU think your ready. A little common sense would go a long way here.
