TechShow 0 #1 October 9, 2008 Hi, I'm been cheated on a deal, and was hoping one might know this person, or is able to feed me with any usefull info. The story... I see an add for on this site on classifieds on a complete system with a Mirage G4, Cypress 2, Sabre 2 170sq ft main, and a Reserve. The entire rig was from 2005, and had made 130 jumps approx. I emailed him about it, and he was willing to ship from United Kingdom to Denmark where I live, and he mailed me some pictures of the rig. We got to a price of 1200GBP and he wanted to use Western Union Money Transfer (I know, my mistake). We agreed that I would pay him half the amount up front, and he would then ship it to BodyFlight Bedford, where I have a contact, and then upon arrival I would send the rest of the money. Know the situation is, that I've sended half the money and he has picked it up, and I havn't heard from him in 3 weeks, and he is not answering my emails, and Bodyflight Bedford, havn't recieved the packagde. His info is: Justin Brian Bekett 191 King Street Norwich NR1 2DF United Kingdom his email is: justinbekett@yahoo.com Anyone who knows him? Hope anyone can help... peregrinerose 0 #2 October 9, 2008 When a deal seems to good to be true, it probably is. You got ripped off, the guy probably doesn't even exist, and you won't see your money again. Skydiving is a small community. When buying gear, get and actually check references, chances are you and the other party know a few of the same people. Use a neutral rigger as intermediary so you know the gear exists. Never use WU. Dealing with online transactions safely isn't rocket science. X2 a legitimate seller that has nothing to hide, will eagerly send it to a rigger for inspection. Once it passes inspection, the money can then be sent. I responded to a classified ad for a Sabre 150 here and asked the seller to do the same thing, he blatently refused, I never contacted him again... korbin 0 #5 October 9, 2008 Yeah, WU is pretty unsafe regarding unknown parties.
