Since it's winter it's a good time for gear inspections.

One or two old issues have come up again recently, so I'll bring up another one that should be revisited from time to time.

Periodic gear inspections. This is the slow season for most of us so it's a good time to get your gear checked and cleaned up. Here's an old thread of mine from a few years and several hundred jumps ago. Now that I'm "older and wiser" I do a better job of checking things out.

Some things to look for on your gear.

I have tried, over the years, to get my customers to do just that. When the 'bad' weather comes, get their gear worked on and cleaned-up. Heck no! I've heard things like; "It's not due a re-pack, yet!" or "It's O.K.!" I've offered to do the I&R for 1/2 price. No-oooo! Then, the first Thursday before a week-end of warm weather, they want me to do all the things I could've done on those cold blustery days. Go figure! [:/]:P

Mega dittos here!
I always try to encourage Canadian jumpers to do major repairs over the winter: relines, send Cypres back to factory, send container back to factory, etc.

I always hate the rocket-mail scrambles the week before the first boogie of the season.

And it is not like I am going to be bored over the winter ... the boss just dropped 30 student rigs in my lap - on top of the 30 that were already here - and they all have to be serviceable the first week of May.
