Skydiving Family

Recommended Posts

Lets share some stories and photo of your skydiving family!

My dad started jumping in the late 70s and met my mom while teaching her first jump course at PST arthur. Mom stopped jumping after 17 jumps. Thats after dad said she didn't have to jump if she just wanted to come to te DZ to see him;)

I did my first jump (tandom) with my dad in 2007 at dunville. Then came back to edmonton and took the first jump course at edmonton skydive center where i continue to jump.

I returned to ontario this summer for the Arthur PST reunion and did a 2 way with my dad (mostly spent trying to stay together and match fall rates:S) and my brother did his first tandom. He has since done 2 S/L jumps and plans to continue jumping.

I have never seen my dad so proud as he was after jumping with my and my brother! and the fact that i landed way out while he made it back just gave him more to brag about!:)
Im very grateful to be a part of a skydiving family. This sport and community has brought us closer together than we have ever been!

Blue ones!
Have you seen my pants?
it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream

I don't have any pictures of my dad from his early days of jumping. I asked and got the standard "They're classified. If I showed them to you, I'd have to kill you." My mom is trying to find them for me - they're from his training in the Army in 1966.

The other set of photos that I desperately would love to share but I KNOW he would kill me are of his first and only tandem jump - 40 years after he earned his jump wings. He was talked into doing it by some very persuasive characters and, against all orders of "DON'T PUT YOUR FEET DOWN" when they came in to land, he did. Instinct took over. If he'll let me, I will post a picture of my dad, the LTC, being lawn-surfed by SSG Joe Jones of the Golden Knights.

Truly a wonderful sight to behold. Brilliant timing on the photographer's (SGM Ike Eitniear) part.

My first jump was with the same kooky bunch of folks at Yuma. Attached is a photo of me and my dad and one of me and my TI - the kickass wonderful amazing great guy SFC Mike "Big Mike" Elliott.

(and, yes, I am aware of the fact that I look like a larvae in the yellow suit built for a man)
If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you.

That is so brilliant mate, well done.Got to take my hat off to your folks too for letting you make your own mind up.
My wife and I got to know each other on the airfield and did skydive for some years over here in Scotland, however, financial priorities and added responsibilities came into play along the way and took the shine off it all.Perhaps when our kids are up a bit we can go thro the same experience again with them too.Stay Safe.Jas

My mom desperately wants to jump but her doctors are very reluctant because of the blood thinners she has to take from the kidney transplant. You breathe hard on her and she bruises so the harnesses could do some serious damage.

My sister is waiting until we can get together so she can jump with me (she lives in Pensacola, I'm in Seattle).

Her daughter, who will be 8 years old in a month, recently called me and said "Mommy said that if you're good enough to be a skydiving teacher that you will take me skydiving on my 16th birthday. Will you?" I guess this means that I have 8 years to get a tandem instructor rating.
If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you.
