BIGUN 1,496 #2 October 14, 2008 I get into SEATAC tomorrow night at 8:00 PM and will be staying up in Snohomish for a couple of weeks. How many days you in SEATAC? You still have my cell? Yours still the same? I think it's my turn to host dinner with NWFlyer and Monkeynocando... maybe we could argue politics with Amazon. Lemmee know.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

BIGUN 1,496 #13 October 14, 2008 Well, I hadn't heard that NWFlyer had made the adios official. But, I will be in town for a couple of weekends. Throwin some salmon on the barbie and meeting JM and VS the following weekend would be kewl.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. Maybe we can meet up in the airport. my flight pulls in at about 8:30 PM. I've got a buddy I'm staying with who I think still lives in Tacoma. I'll be in Seattle until Friday. I fly out for Japan at 1 on Friday. Yes, I still have your cell # and mine is still the same. I'll be shutting it off on the 17th when I fly to Japan. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. LadiDadi 0 #17 October 14, 2008 My sister lives in Pensacola (I peeked at your profile so I know you're in the neighborhood - so to speak) and I make her send me mayonaise and pickles every now and then. She makes me air lift her halibut and salmon. Hardly fair. Financially, anyway. If you have time, at least a hand full of sand off the floor of the FloraBama would suffice. (and please god tell me you know about the FloraBama...) I live in Seattle - about 5 miles north of downtown. What sorts of things are you looking to do? I can give you a whole list of recommendations if you'd like.If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you. **************************** Be like the cupcake and suck it up. I haven't updated profile info yet because I don't know what my new city will be. I know it's at the base of Mt. Fuji, and that's about it. If it makes you feel any better, I can bring you some sand, pickles and mayo from California, but I make no promises on quality.Of course I know about Florabama. LadiDadi 0 #19 October 14, 2008 Good god I love the FloraBama!!! Especially the nights that Rickey Whitley plays. Ice cold straight shots of Wild Turkey at the FloraBama and waffles across the street to soak 'em up. *drool* Anyway... Let me know if you need any recommendations on what to do, where to go and such. I know very little about the Tacoma area but I've got Seattle covered. If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you. **************************** Be like the cupcake and suck it up. skymama 37 #21 October 14, 2008 Mt. St. Helen's is definitely worth the trip, but try to go on a clear day. They have great hiking trails if you're into that. Actually, there are great hiking trails all over the place, but I don't know about what it's like on the trails in the winter, I've only gone in the summer. The Farmer's Market in Seattle is cool, so is taking the ferry over to Victoria, BC.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

livendive 8 #23 October 14, 2008 Come do tandems with me this weekend Keith. It's a bit of a drive, but it's also a private airport, with a Caravan, on the non-rainy side of the state. DrewEckhardt 0 #24 October 14, 2008 QuoteTomorrow I'm flying in to Seattle and staying a few days in Tacoma. Any recommendations for while I'm out there? The salmon is awesome. In most of the country it's just SALMON with better restaurants differentiating between wild and farm caught. You might think that species (Sockeye, King, Koho etc.) is enough but it's not - in the Pacific Northwest they differentiate between what river the salmon spawned in, because water temperature and diet make a big difference. Shiro's sushi is pretty tasty. Izumi is surprisingly good on the east side. There's decent jazz in downtown Seattle. Tula's, The Triple Door, Jazz Alley. The Earshot festival is about to start. The skydivers are cool but the weather stinks in the fall/winter.
LadiDadi 0 #25 October 14, 2008 The typical tourist stuff: ~Pike Place Market (where they throw the fish) ~Space Needle (don't eat there - overpriced Denny's caliber food) ~Seattle Art Museum ~Argosy Cruises - the only one really worth the price is the one that goes through the Ballard Locks ~Experience Music Project (I think it's more hype and exterior looks than quality stuff inside but there's also a Sci-Fi museum in there) ~Pacific Science Center (fun if you're 8 years old) ~The Seattle Aquarium is really nice ~The Woodland Park Zoo is alright but the better zoo is in Issaquah - The Cougar Mountain Zoo ~The Duck Tours (please, for the love of god don't do that - they all look like morons with their stupid duck whistle thingies and I always give them the finger as they go by) ~Pioneer Square (careful there at night) ~The Underground Seattle Tour is a lot of fun ~Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe down on the waterfront. Totally worth a look. ~The Museum of Flight (I think it's kinda lame...) Off the beaten path- ~The Fremont Troll statue (a large concrete troll under the Aurora bridge that's crushing a VW bug) ~The Soundgarden - yes, that's where the band name came from. It's a grouping of structures/sculptures that create an eerie or odd sound when the wind blows through them. Now is the right time of year for it. ~Gas Works Park just 'cause it's really funky looking ~The Maritime History Museum if you're into that sort of thing ~Jimi Hendrix's gravesite (not the original one, though) ~Bruce and Brandon Lee's gravesites ~Archie McPhee's - it's a store that can't be described, look it up on the internet. ~A statue of Lenin in the Fremont neighborhood (a real one that came from The Czech Republic) ~The Blue Moon Tavern in the U-District (where some very notable literary types used to go get sloshed - Tom Robbins, Theodore Roethke, Alan Ginsberg, Dylan Thomas... A great GREAT place to go) What else?If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you. **************************** Be like the cupcake and suck it up.
