Fab 0 #1 November 21, 2005 Hi, I'm in the process of changing canopies and I have a few questions. I now have an icon with aerodyne soft links... Is it a good idea to reuse a soft link with 100 jumps on it or is it a better idea to use brand new pd soft links instead (on aerodyne's risers)? What slinks are better..pd's or aerodyne's? Aerodynes looks more safer because of the big brass ring....so I guess there's a smaller chance of the slinks come undone? Thanks _______________________________________
justinb138 0 #2 November 21, 2005 Either should be Ok (unless you're tallking about reserve links). You could reuse the ones you have if they're in good shape. With only 100 jumps they should be fine. If there's any doubt, just have your rigger look at them

Either is sufficient, but I prefer PD slinks. Not because of the wear on your current ones, but because they're easier to install or remove in my opinion. The brass ring does not make aerodyne's safer, Slinks have never been known to come undone if installed properly. But I'm just a big PD fan so I'm biased _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

OTOH, if he's got 100 rides on his reserve, he has bigger worries than slink compatibility! With the main, TSO is not an issue. I use R-Slinks on an Icarus main in a Mirage container. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." Other riggers will apply their authorization to decide what components are compatible, just like some container mfgs have specifically allowed only one reserve to be packed in it. This was ignored.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired.
