Andrewwhyte 1 #1 October 28, 2008 Did the commissioner of baseball change the rules in the middle of a game last night? At the end of the last complete inning (the 5th) the score was 2-1 and the minimum 5 innings had been completed. I think the game was over. It would be a shitty way to end the world series, but those are the rules.
cocheese 0 #2 October 28, 2008 Yea I'd be really pissed if i cared. Is there an out cry going on about it in the baseball community?
airtwardo 7 #3 October 28, 2008 Not in play-off or world series games...like anything else it's all about the $$$. Ever seen a series that didn't go 7 games, & miss out on the millions of media dollars...kinda funny how all the 'bad calls' seem to go to the losing team. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

Actually, only 4 of the last 20 World Series have made it to 7 games. In fact, in 10 of the last 20, they never made it past game 5. pirana 0 #5 October 28, 2008 . . . even if the Cubs had won the World Series in their last appearance (1945), they would still hold the longest streak of never having won. . . . albeit an obvious one, that Cubs players dominate the list of players that have played the most games but never appeared in a World Series. . . . the Yankees hold the 2nd highest streak for consecutive World Series wins at 4. They also hold the highest mark at 5. They have won a pennant in every decade, and have World Series wins in all but 2 of the decades of their existence." . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

pirana 0 #8 October 28, 2008 Probably a lot to do with tradition; but they do play in a light rain or drizzle. A bit of a different sport though. I can't imagine trying to hit professional level pitching in much more than a light drizzle." . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

downwardspiral 0 #11 October 28, 2008 Yeah football is almost as cool as hockey and I have seen them play outdoor games in blizzard like conditions too! I've even seen superbike races in the rain. WTF MLB?www.FourWheelerHB.com

I've never seen a radar gun readout for a Brett Favre pass, but I imagine it approaches the receiver a bit slower than the average baseball comes in at a batter. You wanna step in against Randy Johnson's "Mr. Snappy" in the rain? I bet Ray Chapman wouldn't (if he could). Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!"
