Does this sound sketchy?

Recommended Posts

If the individual is from Elsinore, his ID shouldn't be too hard to confirm... once his name is known. ;) This being said, I'd generally be very cautious about sending funds without the gear in the hands of neutral party (local rigger, DZO, etc...). If the guy is above board, there shouldn't be a problem. Remember to use common sense, don't use WU, blah, blah, blah...

Randomly f'n thingies up since before I was born...

3rd vote for don't send money till your DZO or rigger has the canopy. Plus, if he is gone and you have showed interest in the item I see no need in you having to insure he holds it for you. I'm not saying the guy is a crook but I would not do business with him if he was not willing to send the canopy to a DZ or a rigger.

I contacted a guy about his canopy for sale. He said the canopy is stored in LA, but he'll be away for 2-3 weeks and that i can reserve the canopy for myself via a money order or paypal. His profile says he's from Elsinore. Just sounds a little shady to me.

If it sounds sketchy, it probably is. Now, there are always exceptions, but I would be extra careful.

Get his name and phone number, talk to him, and confirm his identity with the DZ.
