livendive 8 #1 November 11, 2008 I'm surprised I couldn't find where someone else already started this thread today. In any case, I just want to remind our veterans (and active members) that your service and sacrifices are much appreciated. Thank you, once again and still. LadiDadi 0 #3 November 11, 2008 I heart Soldiers!!! ...and Sailors and Airmen too!!! (Marines aren't too bad either, for the most part, but I'm an Army brat so I'm not supposed to say that out loud) For everyone who has ever donned a uniform in service to this country - by your choice or not - I thank you for being brave enough to do so.If you can't laugh at yourself, I'll be happy to do it for you. **************************** Be like the cupcake and suck it up. Amazon 7 #5 November 11, 2008 We owe a debt of gratitude to all those who have fallen... We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
labrys 0 #6 November 11, 2008 QuoteWe owe a debt of gratitude to all those who have fallen... With due respect and thanks for your service, Jeanne. We pay our respects to those who have fallen every day and even more so on Memorial Day. Veteran's Day should be about thanking veterans... all of them... regardless of whether or not they gave their lives in battle or gave a few years of service and moved on with their lives as civilains afterwards. It's kind of a pet peave of mine, I guess. Memorial Day is Memorial Day and Veteran's Day is Veteran's Day. They don't mean the same thing.Owned by Remi #? Amazon 7 #7 November 11, 2008 The thing is, we celebrate it this day... when the guns fell silent in one of the biggest mistakes the world ever made and finally ended it.... at the 11th hour.. of the 11th day.... of the 11th month. It is more than just an American event.

SuFantasma 0 #13 November 12, 2008 You are welcome .... And thanks to all my comrade in arms* from all services ( Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, et.al.) for their individual services to the Country and for standing by my side when we served together. To all veterans and families who experience the ultimate sacrifize ... my sincerest respect, deepest condolences and unbound love.... While we all served, some were called to remind us of the meaning of serving beyond what words can describe. Next time you see a serviceperson in uniform... say thanks, offer a coffee or a cocktail and send a one-line note to their parents .... you will know what to write. * comrades in arms (seek the latin definion, not the contemporary interpretation)Y yo, pa' vivir con miedo, prefiero morir sonriendo, con el recuerdo vivo". - Ruben Blades, "Adan Garcia"

I agree with your premise, but it is just one of those things that the US chose what is remembrance day to the rest of us as Veteran's day.
millertime24 8 #16 November 12, 2008 To hell with politics. It is comments like these that make me proud to be not only a US Airman but an American as a whole. It shows that there is still tons of support for all those who serve and who have served. I would also like to thank all who serve and those who served before my time giving me the opportunity to do so. Muff #5048

Well, one of your other "lefty liberal" friends said thank you at the top of this thread, and he'd be happy to say "you're welcome" too, if that'd help make up for it.
