npgraphicdesign 3 #1 November 13, 2008 For the last week or so, I've had some very strange calls made to my cell phone. The person calls, but when I pick up, they hang up. It's a local area code, and I am 99% sure it's a cell-phone. Probably had about 20 of those calls in the last week. I know it's not an ex-gf, or any of my friends that are trying to prank call me. So are there any ways to look up a cell phone number? Preferably legal...

Chiquita 14 #3 November 13, 2008 You can use fonefinder.net to verify if it is a cellphone or at least the service provider"Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity"
SimonBones 1 #4 November 13, 2008 Maybe not a phone reverse look-up... but phones with GSM signals are constantly bouncing off cell towers even if you're not actively using it. It just has to be on. What this means is that based on the different cell towers a cell phone is signaling one can triangulate a general area of the location of the phone. There are some programs and websites that allow you to punch in a cell phone number and it brings up a map giving you a rough idea of exactly where that cell phone is located (if it is on). I think it says somewhere the accuracy is within 3 miles or so? Try it out on this site, it's actually pretty scary stuff: http://www.phonetrace.org/ OK, I'm not going to open that link But you certainly can pinpoint a cellphone location, and the accuracy is a lot better than 3 miles - it's within a few yards, I reckon. But I think you'd need the co-operation of whoever the phone belongs to, or the police. If your caller has a pay-as-you-go phone, then it's quite possible there's no contract associated with it and it isn't registered to an individual - in which case I guess you'd be out of luck trying to trace the number. simplyputsi 0 #12 November 13, 2008 you can try anywho.com and there is a clicky at the top menu for reverse lookup. Most times it won't find a cell phone, but it'll give you ways to buy the info, like 4 bucks or so.Skymama's #2 stalker -
