Gawain 0 #1 November 12, 2008 On our way back from the KSC air show, we stopped in South Carolina for a Veteran's Day Parade demo jump in Union, SC. We had to stage out of Chester, SC because of the weight of our aircraft, and parked by the hangers was: you guessed it, an AN-2. Apparently, the new owner just got it there last week, on a ferry permit only. It says "Exxon Valdez" on the side, upon closer inspection of the engine cover, there are oil smears everywhere... Just thought I'd share a few of the pics I took, seeing as how important AN-2s are around here. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! feuergnom 29 #7 November 13, 2008 Quote there are oil smears everywhere if an AN2 doesn't leak oil, there's definitly a problem with the engine The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver #

wrightskyguy 1 #9 November 14, 2008 There is no such thing as an AN-2. There are only 3 types of aircraft, Piper Cubs, Lear Jets, and 747's. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
mrwrong 0 #10 November 14, 2008 First of all, I know this is a repost but since this is the Bonfire and the story is very funny and in fact includes an AN-2 I'm posting it again (it was originally posted in "Safety and Training") I was told a funny, (since all ended well), story from a couple of years before my jumping days begun. Our club had rented an AN-2 due to service on our regular aircraft. None of the jumpers were rally familiar with this type of aircraft. While ascending to jump altitude the engine suddenly went dead, and the pilot realized that he had forgot to turn the carburettor heater on and that was the reason. So he turned it on and restarted the engine. When he turned his head to tell that all was under control the entire 'load' was gone. As soon as the motor went silent the JM opened the door and gave the exit command. They had a hard time finding everybody who landed (far) out. The only one who didn't land out was the pilot.“The sum of intelligence on the planet is a constant; the population is growing.” - George Bernard Shaw He who dies with the most toys, wins..... dudeist skydiver # 19515 Buy quality and cry once!
