hungarianchick 0 #5 November 25, 2008 I haven't eaten that stuff since I left Hungary, but I can still recall the smell as my mom roasted them in the oven. I'm not sure If I can still stomach them but I'd give it an honest try... "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."

Zep 0 #7 November 25, 2008 As a seasoned black pudding maker, I whole heartily agree. Try this for breakfast, one or two black sausages fried in virgin olive oil, 1 slice of toast from a 3Kg loaf (round) rub toast with half a garlic clove, rub toast with half a tomatoe, pour on olive oil and salt to tast eat with black sauage and a glass or two of red wine. Can't get my husband to do the blood sausage but he sure does love the Rosti!

piahenzi 0 #11 November 25, 2008 ..LOL!! yeah, I think you have to be raised with the stuff... when you're a kid in a blue collar family in Switzerland it's bound to get on your plate at some point...and with strict Swiss parental units, well, what can I say, you don't get bratty about your food... virgin-burner 1 #12 November 26, 2008 i was wondering about that, your name is SO typical swiss.. i had luck with my parents never HAD to eat the stuff. still dont eat "chuttle" nor "gnàgi". that is cow-intestine and pig feet for the non-chuchichäschtli-speakers.. and for the hannibal-reference: veal-liver is also delicious.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. If you have bread with it, it's a breakfast item, if you have baked potatoes, it can be lunch or dinner. Oh, and don't forget the pickles. "I love cooking with wine. hungarianchick 0 #20 November 26, 2008 Quotecan u enlighten me on what pickles are? thats like veggies in vinegar, the spanish would call it tapas, right!? I'm not sure what the spanish call it but correct, pickles in Hungary are a wide assortment of vegetables pickled in a vinegar/water/salt/spice brine. They are mainly gerkins (small cukes) but can be peppers, small gourds, cabbage, onions etc. "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food."
