cutaway cables should be trimmed to release the non-RSL riser first?

Thread drift.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned to them that the Safire 2 169 I was flying only had an RSL hookup on one side of the risers...not allowing me to attach the RSL on the container I was using. That night they took the canopy/riser combo out of service and sent it to the loft to have an RSL loop hooked onto the right side of the risers as well.

Doesn't that create a problem based on the fact that the cutaway cables should be trimmed to release the non-RSL riser first?

In theory yes. The real problem is if you pull it far enough to release one and not the other. Then the order of release is important. With a vigorous full pull I doubt that the cable difference of an inch or so would make a difference.

But it still won't be right with out replacing the cutaway handle, or if the cables are long enough retrimming.

What thread was this from? Was it in relation to a demo canopy?

It should not create a problem, because the RSL side does not change on the container, for which the cutaway handle is designed. If the RSL loop is on the wrong side, the RSL cannot be hooked up.

Thanks. That makes sense.
