Just wondering: Have anyone taken this perception test?

Recommended Posts

16 passes plus a dude in a gorilla suit. Plus, there are two guys and a girl on the white-shirt team, and the opposite on the black-shirt team.

There are three elevator doors, with "S" on the columns in between them, and it took the gorilla 11 steps to cross the screen (excluding the pause for him to "cheese" in the middle")

4 of the participants are wearing white tennis shoes, the other two, black tennis shoes. 4 of the participants are wearing blue jeans, vs. black pants.

I have WAAAAAY too much time on my hands......

Yes, you have way too much time in your hands... and if you got all that down on the first viewing, you have deep psychological issues....

Heck but what do I know, I am not a psychiatrist ! :P:P:P

Not hard to see all that when you pause the video and replay it over and over again.

No pause, just played it twice. Once I figured out that it was a perception test, I quit counting and observed any other little discrepancies I could find.

Perception.

Not hard.

Good point, the title may give it away.... I must admit that I got caught on the ball exchanges even while I caught something out of the corner of my eye that "just didn't look right", I guess the logic dismissed it as the black shirts moving around.

Yet, I was amazed by the fact that given a set of instructions and following them as close as instructed, I was led to ignore an event that would be obvious to other observers. Wow, what does that do to "eye witness account" of the facts ?

I watched this when I was in school for my BA in psychology! It was surprising how many people didn't see the gorilla!

Is phsycology still a BA or has it been upgraded to BS?

Here in OZ it can be done as either depending on how you structure it.

I think the point of the test was to watch it once and see how good your perception was. Anyone could watch it twice and pick up all the information you did. Kinda defeats the point of the test by watching it twice.
