wildcard451 0 #1 December 8, 2008 Well, schools in our area are already on a 2-hr delay tomorrow because....get this... It's cold. No snow. Just ...... cold. WTF.
BillyVance 35 #2 December 8, 2008 Seriously? Yeah, WTF... However, down here, if there's rain overnight and then a freeze or 1/4" snow, school gets cancelled for the day, and assholes get wiped out every 1/2 mile on the highway. dynamicedge 0 #3 December 8, 2008 That's fucked. School has never been cancelled for me in my entire life. Days where it was -45 C, a meter of snow or freezing rain over night or even hell freezing over, school was always on.

ltdiver 3 #5 December 8, 2008 QuoteThat's fucked. School has never been cancelled for me in my entire life. School was cancelled for a couple of days here in SoCal this past month because of all the smoke from the fires. It really was so thick it was raining ash for miles! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

dropdeded 0 #7 December 8, 2008 My wifes a teacher in Bakersfield, with a 60 mile commute from the mountains. Schools go on like 2 hour fog delays every so often. Thats just for the kids though, she's still got to be there on time and sometimes needs to chain up to get out of the snow here at home to get to the foggy drive part ------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
skyjumpenfool 2 #8 December 8, 2008 Yep, I can see that... here in Minneapolis our schools close when it gets a little cold. I think the magic number for school closing is like 40-50 degrees below zero. The really sad part of this is that we get several school closings each year. Can you say... "Fricken Cold"! Jewels 0 #9 December 8, 2008 Is it cars-won't-start and dangerous-to-the-lungs cold, or what? I don't remember ever having any delays due to just cold temps around here (Colo.).TPM Sister #
