DustyP 0 #1 December 9, 2008 I'm thinking of moving to Utah. I'm a A&P mechanic looking to get into wind turbines. I need a place to skydive, a place to work on wind turbines, and a place to snowboard. Do you know of such a place??....
jtval 0 #2 December 9, 2008 I'm not from Utah but I am sure you can find something by Hill Air Force Base. (salt lake city) Skydive Ogden is a great place just a few miles from there. I've been boarding there a few times. If you have a hard time finding a place you arent looking. My photos My Videos
guppie01 0 #3 December 9, 2008 Hill is closer to Ogden, than SLC. There is also the Defense Depot in Ogden. North or South Odgen are nice places to live, they have tried to revitilize downtown, but the gangs seem to keep it down. Pretty sad acutally b/c it's a pretty cool area. If you hang in the Ogden area there are 3 resorts to go snowboarding within a 30-45 minute drive. Snow Basin, Powder Mountain, and Wolf Mountain. I have jumped at Skydive Ogden and it's an awesome DZ. I haven't had the chance to jump at any of the other Ut DZ's, but have heard nothing but good things about them. I don't currently live in UT, but grew up in the Ogden, Davis County area.... I visit about 1 - 2 x per year. Beautiful country... miss those mountains. To the OP feel free to PM me if you have any questions regarding the area. ciao, g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" millertime24 8 #4 December 9, 2008 Skydive Utah down in Tooela is a fantastic dz. I work on Hill AFB and SU is only 45min from here. EDIT: Skydive Ogden is only 15min from here. FWIW I live in Layton and find it to be a great community. I have friends that live in Clearfield, Centerville, and Roy and are all nice places to live as well.Muff #5048
DSE 5 #5 December 9, 2008 Wind turbine farm being built in Stockton Utah (my place of residence) which is 7 mins from Skydive Utah. SU is approx 15 mins from SLC. Ogden is about 45 mins from SLC. Both are nice DZ's, Ogden has better bathrooms, we have better landing areas. SU has a King 90, Ogden has a Caravan. We have awesome views.
jonstark 8 #6 December 9, 2008 Quote I'm a A&P mechanic looking to get into wind turbines. ... Sad what a once honorable career, like making sure the lives of airplane passengers and crews are as safe as possible, has come to. I can make a helluva lot more money maintaining the equipment that makes Fritos corn chips than I can at taking care of an airliner. Sorry for the thread creep. Do you have composite experience? I would imagine it would help with blade maintenance. jon
DustyP 0 #7 December 10, 2008 hence the reason i'm getting out, for now! I do have some experience in composites but more in the A&P side of things..
