Using cops as option A

Recommended Posts

sup bro,

I know why they used the cops- Some people are aware that they have to set a time line on paper to document the actual time of the start of an infraction. This is especially true with real estate issues and since your trailer is a dwelling that may constitute adverse possession, in that you MAY plan on taking up permanent residence there...law or not so unless someone actually files a complaint officially then you CAN stay there and eventually, usually 20 years, claim it as your property.

Even though that is clearly not your intent- so in a way weird way they are just being smart, not necessarily malicious.

Hi l&d,
Well, when you live in "the city" ya' got problems like that. Outside "the city" (unincorporated sections of the county) it's better and further from "the city" the better! Like old D. Boone, all he wanted is more "elbow room!!!" Move!! After livin' in "the country" for the last 7 years, 'ain't no way you'll get me back in "the city!!"

sure... this is true but it has been there for 4 days... which is a far cry from 20 years... :S

There's nothing that says they can't be amicable and talk to dave first... approach and ask if he is planning to keep the trailer there much longer that it is a bit of an eyesore.

I suppose I'm fortunate that I have generally considerate neighbors... and have had most of my life...

it varies state to state- around here it use to be seven.

>There's nothing that says they can't be amicable and talk to dave first

Absolutely, but though you or I may know Dave to be a reasonable person, sometimes that action gets someone a sho**** in the face- from either party.

They may have not done the neighborly thing but they did the smart thing from the laws perspective.. again I'm no cop or lawyer...I just watch a lot of peoples court etc.

It is parked on a public street in front of his own house, not on their private property. How does this apply?

City ordinance, I believe.

No. I was hoping he could explain how his neighbor is only trying to protect their parking spot, a portion of public road, from adverse possesion instead of just being bitches about a simple problem that could have been solved with a walk across the street and the press of a door bell.

Depends on the situation
Heres an example using the ring the doorbell approach with neighbors.

true story-

I am a land owner of the same property for 20 years, I had to evict four bordering neighbors form my land over those years... tried the nice approach "Hey how ya doin' nice yard you got here you know you're over the line here by by quite a few feet(12)I would appreciate it if you could pull your stuff back onto your property before it becomes a problem."

You know where that got me...guess

granted the situation is much different from Daves.

Anyway after a long while-
I had to ramp up the volume, then remove their shit myself...They called the cops and you know what the cop said to me...."Next time call us if you have a problem." Fortunately for me I was in the right.

Moral of the story- sometimes it's just better to call the cops right off the bat. Because when you get down to it some people don't have any respect unless you can affect them somehow using the law-- or other means which will probably land you in jail.

I know that sucks but that's the way it is for the majority from my experience.

I stand that they did the smart thing- its done with, a little fur got ruffled. SO WHAT the problem got solved. They can all laugh about it over a beer later the point is nobody got hurt or sent to jail.

i just had an idea if you decide to retaliate. somehow get into his house and dump pee into his vent registers. when he turns his heat on, his life will suck. you could use your own, just pee into a cheap flask-like container before-hand (or if you really have some balls, whip your wang out and piss directly into them) or somehow collect some cat pee. that stuff is brutal.
