livendive 8 #1 December 11, 2008 What the hell is up with neighbors calling cops as a first option? I went and got my trailer from the DZ last weekend, brought it home, and parked it next to my house until I can get it winterized & stored away for the next couple of months. It's a 2008 model year (not an eyesore) and has been on my suburban street for 4 days (the city limit is 3 days). Today the police stopped by to inform Muttley that my neighbors from across the street who always park next to my house complained (it's taking up some of "their" parking space..."their" being defined as the only available street parking adjacent to my property). I have 24 hours to move it off the street or be ticketed. Why the fuck would a neighbor call the cops instead of coming over and saying, "Hey, RV's aren't allowed on city streets for more than 72 hours and we like parking next to your house...got any plans for that thing"? I would have said "yeah, it'll be gone this weekend". Instead, I'm going to put it in my driveway and park both cars and the truck over there with a few feet of gap between them. If my neighbors don't want to act like adults and resolve things amicably, why should I? Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" guppie01 0 #2 December 11, 2008 People are afraid of confrontation.... if they can make someone else do it for them, why not??? Sorry, good luck with the trailer! edited to add: We had a similar conversation about this a while back. Neighbor A decided to put an outdoor light that lit up an entire block - it was not a sensor light, it was on all night long. Neighbor B was going to go straight to the HOA to complain. We said, hey, why don't you just go ask Neighbor A to turn it off after a certain hour, or switch it to sensor. Neighbor B.... "oh didn't even think of trying to approach Neighbor A first, guess that would be a much better idea, and keep the peace." g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" AggieDave 6 #3 December 11, 2008 That blows. Its annoying when people refuse to take care of their trivial neighborhood problems. Its easy to go talk to people, I do it all the time. You want to bet that the cop that responded to ask you to move your trailer was annoyed as hell as well? Instead of being out there trying to solve real problems, he's having to baby sit someone who won't go next door to chat.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #8 December 11, 2008 No offense taken or even thought of in the first place. It still comes down to crappy neighbors who can't knock on someone's door. "please come tell my neighbors their music is too loud..." Whats even more annoying is how people abuse medical services. Its "free" taxi to the ER for a stomach ache. Its free because they have no insurance and won't pay the bill. Same with the ER services. Clogging everything up so people with real needs, real problems who need real responses won't get helped!--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." TrophyHusband 0 #14 December 12, 2008 Quote If my neighbors don't want to act like adults and resolve things amicably, why should I? Blues, Dave i grew up near feuding neighbors. both households had kids my age that i got along with so i got to hear both sides. even as a kid i was amazed that adults acted like that. i was always glad that i didn't have to be a part of it. take the high road on this one (i'm guessing that you will anyway, i realize you're just here venting a little). forget about it for now, and when the weather gets nice, invite the neighbors over for some beer and bbq hamburgers. you won't even have to mention anything, but they will never call the cops on you again. It works well. BUT, place a recording device to watch your vehicles. It could be likely that they might retaliate. Maybe they will. Then you can call out that same cop, who would likely be more than happy to arrest the whiney, puss-assed, POS, ain't got no balls, sissy loving, asshats.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
