Malware??? Help?

Recommended Posts

I just got back from a Christmas party to find my computer all sorts of fucked up. Apparently, some program called "Extra Antivir" is a fake anti-virus/anti-spyware program that infected my computer (how?) and keeps trying to get me to buy it's software. It's totally fucking up everything and Windows keeps giving me those blue screens saying it is trying to shut down an unregistered version of "Extra Antivir". This program is relentless and keeps trying to send me fake Windows Security Alert messages as well as putting a shortcut link for Gay BSDM on my desktop.

After a google search on it all, it's some kind of ware new to me called "malware". How do I get rid of this shit? Someone help please!!! It seems to have totally fucked my computer!!!

You've got three problems.

1. You've got the virus and you need to remove it.
2. It has probably infected the registry and will reload itself.
3. No one will believe that you didn't sign up for the BSDM. ;)

There are lots of free anti-virus programs (some of them are viruses - yes, this is fun).

To disable the product in the registry, I use RegCure.
It is easy to understand.

Try not to spend a lot of the bondage products.

Update your Anti-Virus Program and then kick off a full system scan.

You can try http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ if your AV is missing it. Trend's program is the easiest to run, its has a decent detection rate that is less then other vendors and their bleeding edge drivers but its easy to figure out.

See here for more info on what this malware is/does: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_143470.htm

As to how your computer got infected, make sure your Adobe reader is up to date on its patches as is your Internet Explorer. Both products have a critical flaw in them that will allow an attacker to run remote code against your system just by visiting an infected web page.
