lippy 918 #1 December 13, 2008 Is there freeware program that allows you to take an image from a Compact Flash disk? I'm trying to make a copy of one but Windows doesn't let me do it using explorer. We're connecting using a Universal Card Reader. I'd like to take an image and then just copy the image onto another disk. Anybody know how possible this is?I got nuthin

SuFantasma 0 #3 December 14, 2008 Departing from the assumption that your Compact Flash (CF) card is not using a proprietary format, the CF will be recognized as a FAT32 file system. Under most Windows operating system, the files system (FS) will be recognized upon insertion into the appropriate slot, or USB driven card interface. Questions: 1) Assuming you are using a Windows XP or Vista variant, did you see a message when you first inserted the card? 2) If you saw the message, was the "installation" successful? 3) If the installation was successful, can you see the associated drive letter ( for example E:, F:, G:) 4) If you can see the associated drive letter, do you see any files in the drive? 5) If you don't see any files in the drive, have you allowed the operating system to see "hidden" and "system" files through explorer?Y yo, pa' vivir con miedo, prefiero morir sonriendo, con el recuerdo vivo". - Ruben Blades, "Adan Garcia"
rwieder 0 #4 December 14, 2008 Install Flash Drive with the desired image. Go to "My Computer" open the media you have the file on, open it, highlight it with your cursor. Right click and Copy. Minimize the folder. From there go to your destination folder, or what ever you intend to work on it at. Right click and Paste, Viola! You can also open the file you wish to work with and do a "Save As" then choose your destination and save it like that as well. I prefer the Copy & Paste method myself.-Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
