Should it be ok?

Recommended Posts

so I have been writing a book for a couple years now and it is getting closer and closer to finished... Its a novel, but uses characters Ive met along the way and the main character is VERY VERY similar to me....

so... since I was divorced and there is some very similar circumstances that occur in the book that go over my past... should that be ok with my fiance?

We never really talk about our past relationships too much (largely in part because I dont like to) but she despises my ex...

I dont get along with my ex.. I dont talk to her... but the ex didnt do anything wrong.... and my fiance has no real reason to hate her so much if nothing other than she is my ex..

so I am looking to get the book published within the next 6 months or so and how do I get over the hurdle of my fiance...

the end of the book has a few roads it could take at this point too... and one of the roads I want to explore would have the main character going through a series of events that may lead him in...well a somewhat compromising situation.

Is it possible to be able to detach the writing from reality even if the characters are easily tied to real people? especially the ending which takes place in the future...or what could be preceived as the future?

what do you think?

It should probably be ok... especially if the book is only based on the people in your life...

but ultimately whether it is OK with your Fiancee is a decision that can only be made by your Fiancee...
Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
