Pokerstar 0 #1 December 16, 2008 So, aside from it being really freakin cold, (currently -12) and my truck battery about to give up the ghost, We all got called into department meetings today and were told that due to the current state of the economy, the company is instituting a VOLUNTARY SEPARATION plan, where if you decide to leave the company now, voluntarily, you get a package, depending on your grade level and length of service. This is VERY amazing for the company to do that, as they are providing severance pay that will last considerably longer than they had in the past for similar instances, as many companies have shut down, or just given a few weeks severance pay. If there are not enough takers, there will be lay offs in February, but there will be a better severance package, but not as good as the voluntary one. Soooo, The resume is being updated, and we will see what we will see. (Edited due to shitty typing with my stiff, frozen fingers. ) Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber. --- The Dude ---

You're lucky. My husband went to work one day and found the doors locked and a phone number to call so the employees could make an appointment to pick up their things. We're still fighting for 3 weeks pay, severance pay and vacation pay. skydiver30960 0 #6 December 16, 2008 Look on the bright side: you have warning. My uncle was in a similar situation a few months ago. He read the writing on the wall, updated his resume, and got his ass out of the frying pan before it got too damn hot. He's doing great now. Start planning ahead: cut costs, start job hunting now. Plan for the worst case: assume you don't find a job in time and start planning on how to make the severance last as long as possible.
